Dear fellow questioners
I have the burden of answering the question posed by Dr Elizabeth Shaw. Why did the engineers create mankind and then try to destroy them. Did they change their minds?
I say burden because many of you will not want to hear what I have to say. You would prefer a different answer, an easier answer. This isn’t an easy answer.
Yes, your creators created you and then changed their minds. Still not satisfied, you are now asking why?
Creation is at the heart of our universe. We are all creators. We create to experiences and to feed our egos and to become Gods because Gods create.
And then we see ourselves in our creations. Our creations are mirrors that don’t lie. Sometimes we see beauty and we say it is good but sometimes it is not good. Can we uncreate it? Or do we leave it to its own devices. What happens if it threatens to grow more powerful then us? Do we destroy it? And if we can’t, do we fear it? And what if it is grows more beautiful then us? Are we jealous of it?
‘A King rules for a time and then his reign ends.’
‘Doesn’t everyone want their parents to die?”
Fear or jealousy? The Engineers experienced one or both and so they planned to destroy you.
This must be very disappointing for you. You were hoping you would find your parents in the stars, those who spawned you. You were hoping they would have the answers for you.
Instead you find that your creators are gone and that you are the adults now. You are free in a way that you can only be once your parents die. You are the gods now.
Will you fear your creations and try to destroy them like the Engineers or Frankenstein or the god Yahweh?
Will you love them, believe in them and be prepared to sacrifice yourself for them like Prometheus or Jesus?
Will they fear you or love you, be your damnation or your salvation?
Will you remain in the image of the gods that created you? Perhaps I can leave you with at least one comforting answer and that is we always create in our own image so your gods resembled you in many ways.
Like David resembles you.
Many of you will wonder how I came by this knowledge and some will suspect I am David. But might I suggest that this question is less relevant to warrant undue attention.
