hey mooselips, welcome to the site :) yeh the different ships has been noticed greatly. And yes there is great speculation there are different factions of engineer at war. This could be the case, but it could be possible that the their technology may have changed/advanced over time - the ship in the beginning was during the beginning of time for life on earth, kinda millions of years before the juggernaut/derelict ships came about. Again this is just a theory.

David your right it is valid, would support the idea for the sequel about the engineer home planet being a warzone hell thing (bit like cybertron maybe?)

I have a feeling that the true Engineers are a seperate species who perhaps created the SJ's as a carrier of life and used them, perhaps as slaves to deliver life to a planet, as we saw in the prologue. Perhaps the S.J's rebelled and were punished as we saw in Prometheus and were about to flee to Earth. Just a thought.

Yes, I think that there are two types of Engineers. Actually, I think there are the "Creator - Engineers" that made the "Clone / Android - Engineers". If you take a look at the image that is in the concept art below, it shows the beginning Sacrafice Scene. Seeding Planets, military scientists, and yes, maybe a group of them rebelled and fought for rights to Humans and Earth. If this "Celestial War" occured in Ancient Human times on Earth, that explains all of the misinterpretations by Ancient Man who spoke of Gods visiting them from the stars.
