1-Yes, it was to seed Earth with life 2- Still not sure on that, and don't think we'll ever know thanks to Damon Lindelof and his crappy ambiguous non-story telling. Seriously, that guy sucks as a writer............. 3- The Company have always wanted an Alien.

Every that transpired after spiking his drink was unplanned: Holloway's infection, Shaw's pregnancy & the events that followed as a result. what Antony said... and Cypher... don't be to quick to jump to the conclusion that it was Earth. It's made tanatlisingly easy to assume. And I thought so too, but other things seem to counter indicate.
