Xenos role in Prometheus and proposed sequels

I'd really like to know what other people think about this. I think a lot of people are setting themselves up for dissapointment regarding the sequels much like with this film. I think the xenos are done. I don't think the sequels, if they are made, will dive into much regarding the xenos. Maybe a little side note but nothing substantial. People don't seem to realize that RS believes that the xenos have been done to death and wants to get far away from them. Just because the Deacon looks xenoish doesn't mean that he is eventually going to breed the xenos we know. I just don't think RS cares and I don't think he's going to go in that direction. If he wanted to explain where the xeno came from he could have done that in this film. I hope he doesn't to be honest. Really, just listen and read what RS says about the xenos. Do you think he's doing this to tell how xenos were created? No. He's dealing with much bigger things here. And why does everyone care so much? I think it puts a big hinderance on the films to come. Why do they simply have to tell where xenos came from. I don't mind if they do explain it a little but it obviously isn't what they're going to be about. What do you guys think? Why is it so important to find out EXACTLY how the xeno was created? What's the difference? They're obviously bio-weapons made from primordial soup. What more do we need to know? Do we need to see it? Do we really need details? Does it have to be explained? I don't know about anyone else but I loved being taken in a new direction with this film. I would like to be taken even farther away with the sequels.

The first draft for Prometheus actually was about how the xenos were created. Then Damon came along and stripped all that out to focus more on the "bigger questions" that Scott was poking at. I think this movie did show how the xenos come about and that the Deacon was a prototypical form of xeno.

My thoughts? The simple answer: human curiosity and the need to know definitively. It's difficult for many to live life with a multitude of questions we'll never know the clear-cut answers to (or are supposed to know the answers to). Also, it's such a classic "monster" (like the mummy, dracula and wolfman) that people are intrigued by it to no end... no matter how much it's been done to death. It's why mummy, dracula and werewolf movies are done over and over again.

@Membrane...True. I've always been Philip K. Dickian in I love questions better than answers though. The answers to questions we can know too often end up dissapointing and simple. The answer to the xenos creation is simple obviously. Whether they were created by accident or good luck or bad luck, the Engineers were obviously trying to create a weapon with the black goo. They did it. It's called a xenomorph. They tried to control it but it bit them in the ass. The answers are there. I think and I think RS agrees that that's enough. Lets fall in love with a new creature.

I think for a lot of the folks that were disappointed; they set themselves up for it by having some belief that Ridley was just toying with everyone about going in a different direction. I would like to see more Giger in any sequels that may come into production. A lot of his artwork is a heck of a lot more bizzare, out there, and terrifying than the awesome Alien he designed. It's my hope that Ridley sticks to his guns and does not go the way of the others and use Cameron's Aliens for inspiration. Ridley did well with Prometheus and I'm looking forward to seeing what he'll come up with next.

The Xenomorph wasn't anything of great significance to begin with. It's an amazing design. That's all. Of course Alien has run it's course. The Xenomorph is just a SMALL, TINY piece of the bigger picture; Prometheus and it's subsequent sequels. A tiny fragment of the Engineers' world, that developed into a story. You can't do a story just on some monster. It's as simple as that. It's the CONNECTION between the Engineers and Xenomorphs that should be made clear, and to be honest, it HAS been made clear in Prometheus. I know, i know. To each their own. I'm a Predator guy. There are Xenomorph fans, i understand. But WHAT else is there to do in regards to a monster? NOTHING! It's too simple, too ridiculous, and not in depth enough to be centering a series on the Xenomorph. Which is another main reason (other than money) that they continue doing AVP. Although the Predator story has more potential, and is getting somewhere ever since the 2010 movie. Something's happening. Yet somehow, i can't help but feel the Xenomorphs and Predators need each other to go anywhere, story-wise. But on the other hand, in reality, the movies are complete trash, and they should go their separate ways. I've said it a thousand times, and i'll say it again. There's a bigger picture here, with Prometheus. The Engineers are the stars now, and i'd like for them to keep it that way. They're awesome, and to me, they've surpassed the Predators even. I'm looking forward to the next movie, and i hope they let the audience/viewer experience an amazing amount of discovery and imagination. No more incoherent, sporadic, AVP scene shambles.

And finally, Ridley Scott needs to stop catering to the fapping Alien closet dorks. NO more Alien references, and NO significant focus on Xenomorphs. It's allright to pay homage to your past work, but... This is Prometheus. Not Alien.

@Prenihility...THANK YOU THANK YOU AND THANK YOU! I was about to say something when you stated that the xenos need the Predators to survive or carry on but then I thought about it and you're 100% right. I don't think that Predator really needs xenos to carry on. I think they can do some interesting stuff in their domain. I loved Predators and I still think there are some stories to be done in their arena. I do not feel that way about the xenos though. I wasn't really sick of them before this film and all the talk about them. That doesn't mean that I think they can be taken any further. Telling about the xenos origin would be like squeezing the last, single solitary drop of water out of a sponge and that just isn't Scott's style AT ALL. He does exactly the opposite. He throws out the sponge while it's still sopping wet and grabs a freshly dipped one to start again with. Really stupid analogy but I started with it and I had to finish with it.

"The simple answer: human curiosity and the need to know definitively. @Giger's Dream...Niiiice. Will Shaw ever meet her maker and get all the answers? I've always thought if there is a god or creator that it would be impossible for a living human to stand in front of and converse with them. Their head would explode is my theory lol. @MrRiunoki...What? Sorry, I must be an idiot but that flew right over my head. I'm assuming it's something crass and sarcastic?

So...Any pro-xeno people want to weigh in and tell us why and how the sequels would be better with xenos involved? I would seriously love to hear someone with some good, itelligent reasons as to why the film would be better, needs them or why they're necessary to the story. C'mon, someone convince me.

Wait, Engineering... You're clear on what i said, right...? I'm saying that they SHOULDN'T explore the Xenos further. At least not in any significant way that affect the already started plot in Prometheus.

I kind of think the xenos may be touched upon (such as the mural on the wall being explained a bit) but the main story is now going to be the engineers. Frankly that may be better as they have scared the poop out of me since I was a little kid. Still the most terrifying monster I have seen in movies.

Wait wha? Since you were a kid? Dude, Prometheus is their first, official appearance. ...? Also, on that note, yes. More, more, MORE Engineers!
