MemberOvomorphJun-14-2012 10:22 AMWhere is the space jockey from the first Alien movie? Obvious that it can not be an engineer from the film Prometheus, who was killed by the xenomorph at the end of the film. On the other hand, the explanation that it was only his space suit that we see in the movie Alien, disagrees with the fact that there is a hole in the engineers' chest, which clearly indicates that in the spacesuit must have been 'somebody'. The question is who?
Perhaps some of the engineers who are seen in the the holographic recording fleeing frightened by something?
Perhaps it is in the second dome and is ready to fly toward Earth when the xenomorph 'happened' to him? :) I disagree again, because the team from the Nostromo enters the space ship lying on the ground and not in the dome ...
Too many questions ... : (

MemberOvomorphJun-14-2012 10:28 AMI was under the impression that the Space Jockey as seen in Alien 1, when I initially saw it had an exo-skeleton kind of skin. However, after veiwing Prometheus, it appears that Space Jockey and Engineer are one in the same (I know that it was not an exact match from visual inspection but hey its just a movie). Engineer's wear "Bio Suits" not that it does them much good apparently against face huggers or xenomorphys. Engineer's appear to have Human DNA ok so they are very up-scaled humans. So maybe some scaling errors in various scenes where scale was not exactly consistent like in
Alien 1 and when the Engineered entered the escape pod at end of Prometheus sometimes you get that in movies. Thats the best I can come up with.

MemberOvomorphJun-14-2012 10:49 AMAlien 1 and Prometheus happens on two totally different planets. So there is two completely different ships. Unless somehow the sequel from Prometheus connects to Alien 1, but Ridley and Damon both said that if there was a sequel it would branch out further away from the Alien series.

MemberDeaconJun-14-2012 10:52 AMLets look at the Space Jockeys...

Alien 1979..... looks like a fossil to some, when you see the close up scene (not the one with child actors in suits) it looks more so skeletal... see below.

Now Space Jockey in Prometheus...

Looks more like a suit right..... smaller than Alien one right?
Now look at Alien 1979 Space Jockey actual size of the model used and how it looked before finish touches..

This baby does not look as skeletal as it does in Alien but its the same thing and here it looks more like a space suit.....
Note that the production staff does not look so small....
A illusion was created via Child Actors to make the Space Jockey apear bigger but in doing so have the illusion he was like 12ft+
A same mistake was made in Prometheus in the scene with Shaw where hopefully Shaws small size of about 5ft2" and Engineer Actors size of 7ft3" would make the Engineer apear massive without having to do camera trickery etc like say Hobits in Lord of the Rings....
It backfired because if you work out his size to the door and Shaw it gives us a size of 7.5ft Max (7ft 5") which is not the size he apears in the picture board which apears to be 9ft and also smaller than the Jockey Suits hanging up which are 10ft tall.

MemberOvomorphJun-14-2012 10:53 AMNot the same planet, ship or engineer as we see in Alien. Ridley Scott said there are two more movies till we reach the point where Alien begins.

SrkiLee
MemberOvomorphJun-14-2012 10:55 AMA completely different planet, of course ... It is also occurred to me as the only logical explanation.

MemberDeaconJun-14-2012 10:57 AMso as far as the Space Jockey here is the deal...
They are indended to be Humaniods of about 9-10ft tall who when they are in their suits are intended to be about 10-11ft tall.
It would be best to assume that the Space Jockey in Alien, is indeed a Engineer and not another race....
But again the time this Derelict crashed has not yet been 100% confirmed by Ridley he just hints as it was a long time ago, but then also some hints are thrown that the Decon Xeno is the Progentitor.
So its not ruled out for sure that.....
The Alien pilot could be...
1) Just a Engineer, maybe a bigger one i.e 12ft not 10ft in suit.
2) Shaw, or some other Human...
3) The Engineers creators of Elder Engineer (thats not saying its not a suit, just maybe some other race of taller beings created the 9ft Engineers and what we have here is one of those taller beings in a Space Jockey Suit).

MemberOvomorphJun-14-2012 11:15 AMhow human does this look? yet you recognize it immediately as a fighter pilot.

MemberOvomorphJun-14-2012 11:17 AMhere is my reasoning for space jockey = engineer. Despite difference in scale, the cockpit of the spacecraft is roughly similar with similar controls. It is unlikely that two different species would design the same cock pit. Just an observation.

This is a very interesting idea ... the creatures from Alien 1, are totally different race that created the Engineers, and those, wishing to get closer to their Creator, wearing exoskeleton space suit that looked like the Elder ones.

MemberOvomorphJun-14-2012 11:39 AMyou're confusing things; they are getting muddled in your head. yes - there are two different planets with two different ships, but i believe they should've maintained consistency with the alien and just made the space jockey's real aliens instead of wrestle mania aliens. for a movie that claims to be epic, cutting edge, blah blah blah - risk taking many have said; this one seems to shy away from taking chances with our supposed creators (no balls and un-christian). i understand that they wanted this "in his image" thing, but the space jockeys could've still been very alien and created something completely different. RS should've taken the risk and did space jockey aliens - as i believe he did in the original - i don't believe it was supposed to be a suit from the get go. this film is very pretty but very weak. "the harvest" treatment is starting to make more sense to me. how sad it that?

MemberOvomorphJun-14-2012 10:09 PMhere is the inside view of a mig 23 cockpit you can decide by way of compare and contrast to the Engineer's cock pit
