MemberOvomorphJun-15-2012 3:39 AMI already realize there is a Prometheus thread already. But it is not a spoiler one, and I would like to make one so the people who have seen the movie can discuss it. I thought the movie was a good prequel. People need to realize , although there wasn't a lot of action, there was just enough to introduce the violence the Aliens can cause. The story did a great job explaining how the aliens came to be such an epic bread. They were a cross between alien and that human-alien thing it face hugged at the end of the movie. I have a question, that I hope you all can help me with.
Im trying to understand why the engineers created mankind (as it was sought to be) then wanted to destroy it, like she talked about at the end of the movie. But my biggest question, where did the aliens come from?? I dont understand that part. They kind of just showed up on the engineers ship. Also how did the engineers breed die off, leaving only that one big powerful survivor at the end? If someone can help me id appreciate it. THANKS! But where did the alien origin come from?? they just happened to be in the vases? wasnt that the engineer's ship?

MemberOvomorphJun-16-2012 2:20 AMThey didn't dock the ship in the cave exactly. It's off to the side, under a huge door, that opens up between Prometheus and the Dome.
Did you notice when Prometheus comes in to land, Holloway is the one who directs them saying 'God doesn't build in straight lines" and briefly there are straight parallel lines visible in reflected sunlight on the ground (rather like leylines?) There are also two concentric circles. Prometheus stops a good bit short of those circles. They are the hangar doors.
The only part of the ship we saw inside of was the bridge, not any of the other tunnels or the temple, those are in the Dome structure itself.
There was a tunnel extending off to the 'west' (I assume Janek used west for where the sun set) where the "pup" probe was waiting at the door.
This door opens directly to the bridge, much like a jetway from a terminal to an aircraft.
As for the chasing, that's like almost everything in this film, we have no direct evidence. We have to speculate what might be the case.
The last engineer is stumbling as he runs, which seems a bit odd for a race of supermen....
Perhaps he's infected with that black goo.... we later saw it bleed from his head before it exploded didn't we?
Also if he's looking back, at what? Something 'conveniently' not shown on the hologram.
Perhaps another engineer also infested with black goo, and a bit further along in his change, starting to act like we saw Fifield acting on the ship later.
Why would they run into the temple/bio-lab? It has some security. A big serious door. And (pure sepculation here based on teasers on screen) it may have an antidote or at least something that can render the infestation dormant before it progresses past a certain point.
(specualtion based on - a head perfectly preserved after 2000 years... that says to me that inside that temple there is a system that can change the atmosphere, and put any living thing in there into a form of stasis (including those hibernating worms)
If we are assuming some (slave)master race made these big blue guys, and also made the Xenos (as per the ceiling mural)
Then it stands to reason that they should have something to control it, if they've been using it long enough to have murals of it, rather than simply have created it, and been killed by some pandoras box... it might be that, the risk of creating it was borne by the expendable blue dudes.

MemberOvomorphJun-15-2012 3:53 AMLook at the mural on the ceiling of the temple chamber.
Look at what happens to Fifield, not how he physically looks, but how he acts when he returns to Prometheus.
Look at the Alien's rib cage and little biomechanical bits.
Do the same for the space jockeys...
Look at the giant scuplture on the roof of the dome.
It's all there if you look.

MemberOvomorphJun-15-2012 1:19 PMSo what are you tellin me hadley? Im just trying to figure out, if the Engineer's constructed mankind.. how did the alien breed come to be? That was the engineers ship, i presume, seeing as he flew it at the end. But, im guessing the Aliens killed the engineers. but if that was the case, where were all the aliens then if they had killed the engineers? Who laid out the vases, and what the heck was in them, i didnt understand all that. I need some assistance lol please

MemberOvomorphJun-15-2012 1:27 PMThe Genesis of the Alien species as we know them is conceived in part by the Engineers (they designed the Bio-Weapons) and so their genetic similarities would naturally be transferred to anything they created. Yes the Engineers and the Ripley Aliens are connected by genetics designs that do mimic the Engineers design philosophy and style.

MemberOvomorphJun-15-2012 10:31 PMI would suggest Patch an alternative explanation.
These "engineer" Space Jockeys are NOT Engineers. They are the product of engineering.
The first scene is ASSUMED to be planet Earth, and thus billions of years in the past. But there's nothing that actually means it MUST be Earth or a long time ago.
If we explore that alternative, then the 35,000 yr old cave painting means that we have been visited since at least 33,000 BCE.
It would be reasonable to expect that some specimens would be brought back to the lab. Mess with their genes a bit (don't remove any, just inhibit a few -like the ones that give normal skin color, and nipples, and body hair..) Then keep breeding the bigger ones together until you get a huge one... then clone him.
What we call 'engineers' are descendants of abducted humans.
Likewise the Xenomorph is what happens if you dump a lot of black goo on an engineer. (We say something similar happen to Fieield, but the process wasn't finished transforming him. )
Although blinded in the eyes by acid, he could find his way to the ship.
Wait motionless, then jump around like a ninja killing everyone he could... and getting run over by a little truck, before being torched by Janek.

MemberOvomorphJun-15-2012 10:59 PMSo the cave was the engineers hide-out? its where they lived to create the so-called human race? they docked there ship in the cave and built around it correct??? also, can someone explain the recordings of the engineers running away from something, and all of a sudden one gets beheaded 2k years ago? what the heck was chasing them? there couldnt of been an out-break of the bio-weapon (alien goo) they created that soon could there be? and why were they all running into the room with all the little vessels? seems to me thats not where they should have been going, if something of that sort was chasing them?

MemberOvomorphJun-17-2012 3:04 AMHadley, what did it mean when David said the engineer said "Try Harder"?

ImaBigDawg
MemberOvomorphJun-16-2012 4:20 PMAlso, the first face hugger alien was created by the couple having sex after holloway digested the black goo. ...so face huggers create aliens ? So they lay the eggs , then the face hugger injects there egg where in turn produces Xeno?

Hadley's Hope
MemberOvomorphJun-17-2012 8:06 AMWhat? He meant Weyland said "try harder" . That's Weyland he's talking to via that 'read your dreams' device. That's not the engineers stasis bed on the Juggernaut, it's inside the lifeboat on the Prometheus.

MemberOvomorphJun-17-2012 8:23 AM@ImaBigDawg: Good Question and the answer is very very simple to your question...check it out...
The mission was to Terrafrom Earth 2000 years ago, they showed up and created a military installation just as janek said to prepare...
...Clearly, when Fifield and Milburn get lost they stumble across a dead pile of SJ's and notice ONE in particular that has had it's chest burst open...
...Therefore...what happened was, something, more than likely one of the Jockeys on that ship that David discovered triggered a Deacon Birth, and the Jockeys we saw running in the resonance holograms David8 Triggered each time he opened a new door were actually running from it.
...The answer is Obvious to me...They brought the Goo With Them, They brought the Goo and as Ridley said in that French Interview/Video once again right before the release of the film, the "Derelict in LV-426 was a BOMBER and the EGGs were it's cargo of Weapons" destined we now know for Earth! Therefore, every single ship on LV-233 like the one found there on LV-426...is a BOMBER originally scheduled to Terra Form Earth using the Cargo they Brought with them and more than likely found on board each one David8 mentioned existed.

MemberOvomorphJun-19-2012 9:29 PMAlien resurrection movie....how did they clone ripely and alien, like get alien DNA when at end of 3 they blew up...?

LV420
MemberOvomorphJun-29-2012 4:19 PMWhat if the derelict on LV426 was the crew that had originally discovered the Xenomorph during it's travels, long ago?
When I watch PROMETHEUS, I don't draw the conclusion that the Engineers created the Xenomorphs. The way I understand it, they were experimenting with Xenomorph genetics... and far too casually if you ask me.
They build edifices to themselves and to the Xenomorph. Why would they worship a genetic strain that they themselves created? Perhaps they viewed the Xenomorph as some sort of potential next step in evolution. Maybe the Xenomorph was like DNA gold to the Engineers.
The origin of the ALIENS is some terrifying Giger-esque hive planet, not a green glass ampule full of black kool-aid buried in a giant dirt mound somewhere.

MemberOvomorphJun-29-2012 4:46 PM''... is a BOMBER originally scheduled to Terra Form Earth'' ... the Earth is terra-formed as seen in the introduction of the film .
