No Proto-Xeno

Unbound

So. I've seen this movie several times now. I actually don't even have any questions about the flick anymore. just waiting for the sequel. I was a little disappointed about the creature design, i.e. a trilobite from shaw ((that thing looked like it had NO human DNA whatsoever and they just needed something that they thought looked creepy and would be large enough to impregnate the engineer)) and the Deacon, which just looks incredibly lame, in my opinion ((like a fuggin muppet version of a Guillermo Del Toro flick mixed with the head of the sand snakes from beetleguice or something)). This franchise was one built on the unique-ness, complexity, and effectiveness of the creature design, and after dealing with the xenomorph for 30 years, you'd think they'd want everything else to look just as terrifying. Shoulda had Giger do everything. But I digress.... My whole point for posting this has to deal with the Deacon or what some people are referring to as the Proto-xeno. Check it out: Timeline-wise, realize that the xeno and facehuggers we all know and love are already fully-formed and had been sitting on LV-246 for thousands of years by time Prometheus even takes place. So whatever the hell the Deacon is, it isn't a proto-xeno at all, as they already exist in their entirety on lv-246.... that's the only way I can not be mad about how ridiculously wack that thing looked. It isn't a xeno. It's something else that is newer... The worms didn't turn into facehuggers, and fifield didn't mutate into a xeno, so why would shaw's womb or holloway's sperm turn into something even slightly facehugger-y, which then would spawn some sort of muppet pointy headed keebler elf xeno? that was like a cop-out. but whatever. bring on the sequel. The deacon isn't supposed to be a xeno, or even a proto-xeno. there's no proto-anything in this movie whatsoever, hence the reason why they didn't wanna call it a prequel. there's nothing in this movie about how the xeno is created. anywhere. they even have a freakin mural of an already fully-formed xeno, which means they already had encountered it somewhere...... somewhere that didn't have anything to do with humans being infected by a small drop of goo and and having mutant squid babies which then happen to impregnate engineers.

I wrote about this myself. The prototype was seen in the first Alien movie. It was to hard to control and shipped off. What we see here is the attempts to control the alien, the goo vs a uncontroled facehugger. The mural is a "danger" sign much like we have today.

When i watch this movie i loved it. And when you look at the big picture it comes together a little bit. The black goo is kinda referred to as Death. Its design would be to wipe out an entire species with a fast acting and fast evolving organism. When the goo is first released it starts the evolution process. you see worms and gradually larger and deadlier creatures. From the view of what happened to the engineers their project got out and killed them. And its possible during the escape one enigeer made it off planet and crashed on the near by LV-426. (where the chestburster made its way out and evolved into a queen and laid eggs before dying off. And there the ship sits forgotten until the company picks up the distress beacon (which they might have learn about earlier) Or that the ship was loaded with these eggs for a mission of war (but doesnt explain how the orginal space jockey died or the acid burns) Back on point... Within the short span of the movie in which the goo is released and the end we end up with a primative xenomorph. My theory is that its a fast evolving organism that constantly refines itself for its designed purpose to destory. "The Perfect Predator" The large face hugger thing was a step in the evolution but is replaced later when the queen lays the smaller version in eggs. (much better as they can be transported by drones and are smaller) as we have seen the aliens are highly adaptable. The face hugger keeps its host alive and the xenomorph takes on traits from its host to better survive in its inviroment. I could go on but point i hope has been made.

But I thought the sequels would go in farther directions AWAY from Alien. As in, a spin-off over a prequel. I agree, the design of the Deacon was very disappointing. It just looked like any other monster. Quite frankly, it shouldn't have been in the movie at all. Prometheus started and ended exactly like AvP did.
