Green Crystal, Xeno Shrine, and David's intentions

-The Green Crystal
-David's treatment of post-infected Shaw
That Green Crystal is infront of the Xeno shrine. That shrine depicts a large (queen) traditional xenomorph, as well as the traditional facehugger, and human sacrifice. This known lifecycle predates at least 2000 years, and I assume the cannisters are weapons derived from the xeno species. Even if the black goo originally predates the xeno, the engineers were using the fluid as weapons in the manufactured cannisters.
1. So, what is the crystal? It's not just a rock, and it is ignored by everyone except Holloway who looks at it, decides this place is a tomb.
I am assuming it contains DNA for the queen xeno. Amuse me with your thoughts.
2. David knowingly infects Holloway, to "try harder" and observe the effects of the liquid. He has been reading the temple walls as well. He seemingly knows/anticipates Shaw and Holloway will make sexytime, as his unsurprising reaction to assess Shaw as pregnant. He then wants to put her back in stasis and return to earth. (After making Weyland immortal)
Furthermore, he sees her post-cessarian and doesent seem to care she escaped. No one is concerned about her bloody stapled condition, and that there is (cuddles) an alien offspring creature now chilling on their ship. David himself doesen't mind at all. Which is confusing since his agenda was obviously to get the creature back to earth. This mimics Ash/Bishop from Alien(s) and may reveal Weyland intentions. By now they have colonized dozens if not hundreds of planets.
Food for thought, let's eat.
