MemberOvomorphJun-19-2012 12:11 PMOkay we know that we are in the Zeta Reticuli which is around 39 light years from Earth. LV 223 and LV 426 take place in this system, though different suns/planets whatever. There is discrepancy between 3.24 x 10x16, 34 light years, and 39, but I don't care right now.
Prometheus occurs 28 years before Alien, which is 57 years before Aliens. Alien 3 occurs in 2179 which is technically the same year as Aliens.
Ripley lands on Fury 161 which is a working prison facility. Where might this be located? I haven't found any locational information yet.
We also have other planets to identify :)
-Predator's home planet
-Engineer's home planet
-Predator's Game Preserve from Predators
-Alien's originating planet?

MemberOvomorphJun-19-2012 1:21 PMI think the whole "it's around Zeta 2 Reticuli" rather then Gleise 86 is a smoke screen. I don't think Ridley Scott went and made a 30 Trillion Kilometer error. It's part of the trollercoaster.
I think the reason is simple. People want to keep open this idea that the crashed ship on LV 426 was en route to Earth. This is illogical given that LV 426 is 4 light years further away from us than LV 223.
Predator Planet... are you kidding?
Engineers home planet, most likely around Zeta 1 Reticuli... look at Scottish cave drawing. It's the central star that the humanoid figure is pointing to.
I doubt the Alien has an originating planet. It's a mutation of the Space Jockeys. You dunk one of those grey boys in black goo, and they'll be hopping around like Fifield in a cargo hold in no time, and shortly after that, their heads will look like the carving on the roof of the dome, and that biomechanical suit will be incorporated into their body. Ultimately the Xenomorphs are us, a few steps removed. Just like Frankenstein.
Fury 161 is in a system with two suns, which may or may not be in the pattern of six. I would doubt it's the binary system of the two Zetas as they are very far away from each other, and would look like dots from each others locality.
However, Alpha Mensae is one of the stars (right most of the six) and is closer to Earth than either LV 426 or LV 223 .
It has a small red dwarf orbiting it, at about 30 AU (1 AU being the distance Earth is from the our sun, and 30 being the distance of Neptune from the Sun)
So, a planet in this system could see two suns in the sky. Although the scale in this image would seem to be off.

MemberOvomorphJun-19-2012 12:43 PMThe site-content (on another site) that I usually answer these questions has been moved or taken down, I have e-mailed the author to send me the image or tell me where his content has been moved to. It shows the location of Fiorina 161 in relation to Earth as well as LV-426.
I will keep searching....

MemberTrilobiteJun-19-2012 1:43 PMLV-426 = 39 light years from Earth (Zeta II Reticuli)
Took the Sulaco 17 days to travel 39 light years at full throttle.
Thats 2.3 light years per day.
Took the W-Y rescue team 3 days to reach Fiorina 161 (Outer Veil) from Earth.
If it was hasting there at the same speed as the Sulaco that would place Fiorina 161 approximately 6.9 light years from Earth.

MemberOvomorphJun-19-2012 1:57 PMBarnards Star and Wolf 359 star are in that approx range, but totally wrong direction.
How do we know the rescue team came from Earth? The android lied about being Michael Bishop, presumably part of that cover story would involve coming from Earth. They could have come from a nearby colony or Weyland Yutani outpost.

MemberOvomorphJun-20-2012 12:48 PM'' Fiorina 161 aka 'Fury' is a small planet orbiting an insignificant binary star in the Neroid Sector of the Outer Veil. It orbits just inside the outer edge of the system's life zone, and shares the system with at least one other planet. A planet of dark seas and high winds, night temperatures are in the vicinity of minus 40 degrees centrigrade. It's rotation is approximately 10 days''.
