June 19, 2012I think the whole "it's around Zeta 2 Reticuli" rather then Gleise 86 is a smoke screen. I don't think Ridley Scott went and made a 30 Trillion Kilometer error. It's part of the trollercoaster.
I think the reason is simple. People want to keep open this idea that the crashed ship on LV 426 was en route to Earth. This is illogical given that LV 426 is 4 light years further away from us than LV 223.
Predator Planet... are you kidding?
Engineers home planet, most likely around Zeta 1 Reticuli... look at Scottish cave drawing. It's the central star that the humanoid figure is pointing to.
I doubt the Alien has an originating planet. It's a mutation of the Space Jockeys. You dunk one of those grey boys in black goo, and they'll be hopping around like Fifield in a cargo hold in no time, and shortly after that, their heads will look like the carving on the roof of the dome, and that biomechanical suit will be incorporated into their body. Ultimately the Xenomorphs are us, a few steps removed. Just like Frankenstein.
Fury 161 is in a system with two suns, which may or may not be in the pattern of six. I would doubt it's the binary system of the two Zetas as they are very far away from each other, and would look like dots from each others locality.
However, Alpha Mensae is one of the stars (right most of the six) and is closer to Earth than either LV 426 or LV 223 .
It has a small red dwarf orbiting it, at about 30 AU (1 AU being the distance Earth is from the our sun, and 30 being the distance of Neptune from the Sun)
So, a planet in this system could see two suns in the sky. Although the scale in this image would seem to be off.
