MemberOvomorphJun-21-2012 2:32 PMAs soon as I heard that Lindelof was bailing on the sequel, I knew they didn't have any kind of story for it at all. There is no reason why the Engineers wanted to kill us, it was inserted into the story for suspense, and justification for the violence in the movie, like a typical "Lost" episode.

MemberOvomorphJun-21-2012 2:47 PMI understand where you're coming from but let's give Ridley some credit, I feel like Ridley either has something up his sleeve that will make sense and continue to move the storyline along, or because Ridley is an artist and an extremely creative director he will easily dream up something to flow with everything.
But with how Ridley has been talking about a sequel like it's already happening it seems like he's got something planned. & I can't say I'm really 'hurt' that Lindelof is leaving or has already left? Maybe it's better.

MemberOvomorphJun-21-2012 2:58 PMI tend to think Ridley is an extremely creative person... but right now Bladerunner 2... is firmly planted in his mind...LOL and we are very happy it is :-D

MemberOvomorphJun-21-2012 3:11 PMSOLD AS A TRILOGY, I think. I'm convinced (hoping) that Lindelof PROVED he had an Exit Strategy from Prometheus to Paradise etc...
:)
2013 sci-fi horror novels 'Custodian' and 'Tandem' available from Amazon, B&N, iTunes etc...

MemberOvomorphJun-21-2012 3:37 PMYou guys give Ridley Scott too much credit. He, like ADAM SANDLER is best known for 2 of his early films (Yes, I just compared Scott to Sandler).
Lindelof just creates fires and runs away to let someone else attempt to put them out. He knows no one wants him involved on the sequel.

MemberOvomorphJun-21-2012 6:08 PMYeah, Lindelof is a one trick pony, I'm glad people have gotten wise to this. He even said that he wasn't going to write anymore science fiction after Prometheus, but why couldn't he have made that decision after Cowboys and Aliens instead!

MemberOvomorphJun-21-2012 11:59 PMI don't see it as meaning that. If you think about how many people have different theories on what's happening in Prometheus, it would be a bit nuts to try to carry the multiple narratives through the sequel - TV shows might get away with this, but with the time between movies, people will want answers.
So, perhaps a straighter script next time, with fewer red herrings?
Instead we can be teased with wondering what David is up to most of the time.
He mostly deceives humans... mostly.

MemberOvomorphJun-22-2012 12:11 AMThe deal is done..what some don't seem to understand that Lindelof doesnt have to be around in the future because he, Ridley and Spaihts have ALREADY finished the story....it's laying there waiting to be filmed and odds are that some of it if not all of it will be.

MemberOvomorphJun-22-2012 8:23 AMHere's the thing, I have to give Lindelof credit because the amount of questions in this movie are keeping us on these boards having elaborate conversations, so what he wrote is entertaining us far beyond the 2 hours we watched.
Also (nothing except a plot whole thing like vickers getting crushed stupidly) that he has written is unanswerable, we've come up with many possible answers on this board and only haven't reached a conclusion because we don't have the power to implement our guesses as continuity.
That means that any decent writer who comes on can bring home more information about the things we are wondering, whether or not there were answers planned (i believe there probably were) is irrelevant as long as a decent enough writer is able to make us believe what is presented makes sense and was always true in the world we have been shown

MemberOvomorphJun-25-2012 9:50 PMI don't really care if LindleLOST is onboard or not...I'm in this for Ridley. I trust this will all come together in a logical way at the end of the day!!
