The beginning is a very delicate time ;)

We can brake down Lynch's entire work to two basic premisses:
1- it's all about love [Eraser head, Blue velvet, twin peaks, wild at heart, the lost highway]
2- the absurdity of not knowing love [the elephant man, Blue velvet, Mulholland drive, lost highway, Dune].
As to Dune and questioning... I saw the movie when I was 6 years old for the first time [seen it 500 times since then], only read the entire novel when I was 19 [I'm 33 now]. I never felt there was a need for questioning.
The only thing that puzzled me was Leto II as that great Man-Worm that acts like God and the loath he gets all around him... oh, and his nutty aunt as well.
The overall is pretty straight-forward

DUNE [Lynch's version] is one of my fave Sci-Fi. And one of my fave movies.
HOW COME YOU DISS HIS VERSION? EVEN HERBERT HIM SELF LIKED IT AND PRAISED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To be honest - I really love all the design and mood etc, but I can't understand all of shorthcomings (voice device for example -The Voice itself is one the things I really love, to communicate subliminally with your own vocals, it's not necessary to have some sort of external device -it is just our power to modulate and communicate). I'm pretty sure, that you know "Heretics of Dune", my favourite part. There's no need of devices, Ixian and TL machines, it's just us, pushed to the borders and limits, and doing the incredible things. More in private conversations, if You wish, to not make other people bored. :)

I read the entire works. Great vision the dude had.
I like all the bonus stuff Lynch put in the film: The weirding Module, Baron's deseases, the Spacing Guild looks, the Navigator... all great.
I really don'r defend the idea that a novel to screen has to be faithful to the saurce material. Many things in the novels aren't that great when screened.
And Dune has lots of stuff that really needed to be left out.

I'm really OK with Dave's vision (heh, another Dave in terms of Odyssey 2001 and Prometheus). My point is, regarding Dune, we HAVE to read the canonical series (from Dune to Chapterhouse) not to get answers, but to get some new questions. And that's what I like in Promey. - QUESTIONS. inspirations.
Above it all, my fav of David (DAVID) Lynch is "The Lost Highway" - "Just call me" scene is the most scary stuff I've ever seen. You know, what I mean. Even "Lolla, just say, " from "Wild at heart" is weaker.

Oh, we have some intelletual fun. I love it. Leto II is puzzling you? That's the point. The Development is to "not knowing the answers". If we know all the answers, we'll die - in terms of civilisation. All is real, all is obvious, all is done. The Surprise is the thing. The Unknown.

Nietszche... I can't stand the guy... the only person who could was his sister. lol.
The "Golden Path" Leto II took made sense if there was a need to recognise the worms need to exist [and all the Fremen way of living].
But after that... what remained was a God figure gone insane for a 1000 years, and he is killed. There goes the worms...
