June 22, 2012I am assuming this is Adam. - so my response is directed at him.
I saw your post - clicked on the link - watched the vid. - and here's my response: You are correct.
Now, I'd like to add a few "Buts...." and "Howevers......" to your comments.
This is 2012 Hollywood. The movie has to fit in the "box". What I mean by that is that it has to appeal to and meet criteria for the "average viewer". It's not you. It's not me. - Hell, it's probably not the other 10,000 people on these Prometheus Forum boards. It's the average intelligence goof that pays $20 for a ticket and a bucket of popcorn - and wants to be entertained for 2 hours with cool pictures, drooling aliens and explosions. When they design this movie, that's the target: Maximize Revenue and Appeal to the MASSES.
Were there inaccuracies in the movie? Sure. Did David have his shoes tied in frame 24,742 - and then they were UNTIED in frame 24,756. ****GASP**** ****SHOCK***** The HORROR!! OMG!! What were they THINKING!?! Come on guys,..... "suspension of disbelief". Just go with it. Stop fighting the current,... turn around with the other fish.... and swim happily. Think about the overall plot. What are the possibilities here? What are the implications? THAT is the point. - to make you think.
I think you know all this. So why make a video that everyone will watch and basically reply to the screen with, "Thanks for another 'No Duh?!" video Adam."
You know what would be just sick though? - Make a move that is 12 hours long. Have breaks every 2 hours in the theatre for bathroom, food, phone calls, whatever. Make it epic. Make it crazy. Make it complete. Make it so that all these little tiny issues aren't disected by the science fiction nerd population for millions of forum posts.
It would be like telling the movie "norm" to pour itself a nice, tall, frosty glass of STFU. - Wow. Possiblities? Definitely. Will it happen? Not for a long time. Why? Cuz it would be very expensive to produce and the revenue won't justify itself. It's going to take some Billionaire Genius like James Cameron to pull it off. Someone who has a limitless budget, a crazy cool vision and the balls to attempt it.
Until then, we are stuck with Videos from Adam - that make us raise an eyebrow,... snark a little and say to ourselves, "Maybe someday dude. Maybe some day."
