Horrible movie?

Chronicle was worse but prometheus wasn't great - could of been so amazing!

I don't understand why some people don't like this movie. First off, many people consider "2001: A Space Odyssey" to be the best sci-fi movie of all time. Now comparing 2001 to Prometheus for a moment, in both movies: 1) something is discovered on, or near, the Earth. 2) humanity ventures out to learn more about who planted the information to be discovered. 3) something goes horribly wrong on the way. In the case of the 2001 movie, that's all there was. You needed to read Clarke's book to learn more. In the case of Prometheus there is so much more going on in the movie with a tip of the hat to: the Alien Franchise, Blade Runner, and perhaps a few books like Asimov's Foundation Series. Who knows, maybe the next movie will contain Predator's as well :-)

@jim :D @neilrieck I think most people like the main story line as such its the awful moments like the helmets being taken off even by the others who were not supposed to be dickhead adrenalin junkie types :P . And women running in straight lines away from a circular rolling ship. And support characters that you just don't give a shit about etc. etc. 2001 is allot better and totally different I wish prometheus was more like it in some ways! Plus you need to think about it as a film on its own right now - lots of people are thinking theres gona be lots more better stuff to come and it'l all be amazing in the end but no one knows - it may get worse. Anyway my fingers are crossed!

I Watched Chronicle. It is better than Prometheus and is impressive for a film with a 12 million dollar budget.

Now Chronicle was a horrible movie at best.

Have to read the book to understand 2001. But wait, I thought only people who hated Prometheus needed their answers spoon fed to them? Oh man, I go away for a week and look what I missed! Now Prometheus is greater than 2001! I have to start reading more of these things. Bring tears to my eyes.

@neil, do you think us fans purposely wanted to dislike the movie and spend time writing why it was so terribly bad? Of course not. I wanted the best in the series. I wanted the movie to provide an end-result that matched its 130 million budget. Honestly, Battleship and John Carter are better movies that flopped and Prometheus did not. Goes to show how a fan-base can salvage a bad movie from flopdom.
