Verdict: Kinetic, visceral

In order from favorite to least favorite this is my ranking, 1. Alien (Nostalgia) 2. Prometheus (It was a prequel done the right way) 3. Aliens (Actiony but gets kinda boring after a while) 4. Alien 3 5. Alien ressurection

yep... it could be better done. I would personaly ask for the guy from Xfiles to do the screenwriting... or the dude that made DeathNote. Clever writers that can engage people without leaving loose ends.

oh god...i feel as though prometheus is exponentially better than alien insurrection and the AVP franchise. In order of best to worst, my list is as follows: First grouping: Alien and Aliens (they are very different films, but both are fantastic. alien edges out aliens by a hair). Second grouping: Prometheus and Alien 3 (i love both of these films. Both take a brooding and ambitious approach to the franchise, but despite being largely successful (imo), both have a few minor flaws. Not quite as good as the first grouping, but still very compelling and worthy films. Prometheus edges out alien 3 by a hair). Third grouping: The AVP franchise, alien insurrection etc. (the third grouping is absolute garbage imo. I dislike everything about the films in this group and do not consider any of them conon. I pretend that these films do not exist).

I was a very passionate sci fi fan in my 20s, and I think I would have been disappointed with Pro back then, the same way I was with Alien 4. I'm now pushing 40 and happy to even be watching Sci fi in the cinema. (Generally its rom coms with the wife or Harry Potter with the kids) Prometheus is the first 3D film I've seen since 'the creature from the black lagoon' around 1983, so the 3D blew me away. I recently re-watched Alien 3. The climax to Alien3 just gets to me on an emotional level. Great film. OK, so my new tiering: Tier 1 Alien Tier 2 Aliens, Alien3 Tier 3 Prometheus, AVP, AVP2, Alien4
