MemberOvomorphOct-24-2012 7:07 PMIt just hit me like a sudden flash of inspiration.
The two ladies were avoiding the debris to their left and right, so running straight ahead in blind terror. Kind of between a rock and hard place.

Co-AdminMemberOvomorphOct-24-2012 7:38 PMActually, when you see something like that happen, it's not too far fetched to think that the flight-or-fight response in all humans would kick in and you'd just run like hell for the most open ground you can find. But it's still a bit retarded ;-)

"Is it dead this time?" "I dunno, poke it with this stick and see."

MemberOvomorphOct-24-2012 8:28 PMThis is the age of the Internet, where one little detail can be picked on and then parroted by the masses. They were running like hell from a massive cast iron space tumor, no way to judge where it's going, I don't care that they looked over their shoulders, at that point it was outright panic. How rattled would you be after such a hard day at the office?

MemberOvomorphOct-24-2012 10:22 PMEven so, you've got to admit it was cartoonishly silly. Think back to the steamroller scene from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? It would have made more sense for the debris to just hit Vickers. It would have been more shocking that way.

MemberOvomorphOct-24-2012 11:28 PMI wouldn't have minded a body bursting like a ...well... A rotten tomato. I'll take a break from my shameless boosterism to say there were numerous opportunities for shockingly gruesome outcomes that simply weren't taken. But on the other hand, the violence was so surreal at points I was gratified in a totally different way. They seemed to be going for something new, and blockbustery, and somehow achieved both. It's like how sometimes a really cool underground band does a glossy commercial album and it works. Prometheus is at once post modern and mainstream.

MemberOvomorphOct-25-2012 8:46 PMThere was Benny Hill version of Vickers running for it on youtube until those wankers at Fox banned it in some counties and it was damn funny with the music and then watching Vickers on her back doing some kind of back stroke swimming until SPLAT!
Even on the audio commentary Ridley Scott is laughing with little chuckle.
