In first Alien film, Ripley said the beacon from Engineer ship crashed on LV-426 didn't sound like SOS, it sounded more of warning as to keep anyone away. Prometheus showed drawing of Engineers in cave pointing at stars as invitation. Did the Engineers really intended to containment the Earth with black goo and seed but not the xenomorphs they crashed with on LV-426? What’s point of harvesting genetic materials from humans if all eggs hold genetic materials from one person, not society gene pool? It would make sense if each xenomorph can lay eggs like queen, but there is only one queen per colony and if a queen really does collects genetic materials into eggs, it would be from one person, not society. What if that person, host for queen, has dysgenics or some kinds of anomalous genetics apart from most people, as a queen lays thousands of eggs carrying that anomalous genetics? Then the Engineers collect all that? It doesn’t make sense for Engineers needing our primitive genetics when they can do genetic manipulations. Was that ship crashed on LV-426 on way to Earth or elsewhere? Is it strange of Engineers sending warning from crashed ship with xenomorph eggs but sending invitations from a planet with black goo & seeds? I don’t think Engineers are that naïve about what black goo and seeds would lead to.

hi there: first point: "Prometheus showed drawing of Engineers in cave pointing at stars as invitation" Actually that was Shaw's and Halloway's impression of the message in the drawings. They may as well be a warning or simply a "pay homage to our Military base filled with goo kneeling yourselves towards these stars" second point: "Was that ship crashed on LV-426 on way to Earth or elsewhere? " who knows? Sir Ridley does.

"Was that ship crashed on LV-426 on way to Earth or elsewhere? " That ship was doing what they do. I'm curious where you're going with this. Why does it matter where the LV-426 ship was going?

in alien it was a supposed fluke that they found the crashed ship. no one knows where that ship was going. and i figure in the third prometheus movie we may get the explanation of the beacon.

I think it's fairly obvious in Prometheus if you think about it that the star maps scattered through ancient human art were a warning to stay away. The Engineers were telling humans "If you ever get into space, go wherever you want and explore, but don't come looking for us and don't go here because this planet is being used by the bad versions of us who aren't interesting in being nice to you....they are the opposite of us."

What is true is that the Intention of Scott and the writers "Monsieur Gill et al" was the Company intercepted the Derelect's signal first, knew there was ship there on LV-426 and therefore re-routed the Nostromo which by FATE ALONE, was the closet ship to that star system and therefore drew the assignment! & This little bit of info came from these men directly involved int he film whom wrote it, I cannot reveal the source for obvious reasons but it is confirmed fact.
