MemberOvomorphJun-29-2012 10:16 AMI know that I've ranted and complained about PROMETHEUS on other threads, but to be fair I should point out the cool parts of the flick...
It WAS as Ridley Scott movie, and the man doesn't really make bad movies.
The Hammerpede scene was cool, and the chestburster scene is starting to grow on me.
It did have a genuinely creepy feel, like the original from '79...

Co-AdminMemberOvomorphJun-29-2012 11:13 AMWell, I enjoyed Prometheus... but I'm seeing a lot of unused ideas in photos/articles that should have been in the film IMO

MemberOvomorphJun-29-2012 11:34 AMMany of the negative feelings i had about Prometheus disappeared the after the second viewing. You start to realize that everything has a purpose in the movie and it makes much more sense. Even the cheezy dialogue seemed better...gonna go watch it for the 4th time pretty soon here and hope it will get even better!

MemberOvomorphJun-29-2012 12:04 PMNice to see someone who didn't like the film open their mind a bit and recognize some of it's greatness.

MemberOvomorphJun-29-2012 12:08 PM@Patch...I too was mezmerized. As was most of the audience at the 12:01 screening I went to. When the credits rolled everyone just sat motionless, unable to move or get up from their seats. It wasn't a thing where people were waiting for a coda or for the theatre to clear either. I've been to plenty of movies and know what that's like. People were literally motionless. No one was speaking either. Everyone was just trying to digest what was shown. It was a moment that I will never forget as far as cinema goes.

There is actually an accepted standard expression in the english language dictionary now for that event created by none other than Tolkien!
The expression is "Going Tharn" and was first penned for his book..."The Hobbit" !

Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.

MemberOvomorphJun-29-2012 2:58 PMIt was pretty violent, too. Zombie-Fifield smashing that guy's face in was pretty gross. The cesarean scene made me cringe... and I haven't cringed since Shawnee Smith had to wade through that vat of hypodermic needles in SAW 2.
David 8 was cool. So was his yellow-orange virtual reality helmet thing. Ridley Scott's visions of the future are usually pretty tight.
The Deacon made a creepy snarl sound, and was an interesting twist on ALIEN design.
And let's not forget Charlize Theron in her skin-tight Nike space suit. That was worth $10, I suppose.

MemberOvomorphJun-29-2012 3:40 PM I saw it with an old school buddy whom i have not seen in 15 years...so it was kin da like a reunion....we actually saw aliens together as well for the first time....when we left the the theater we were both silent....I was almost too scared to ask him what he thought....but we went to a pub afterwards and we could not stop talking about the movie....soon as i asked him what he thought he could not stop praising prometheus....it was a relief...we both loved it and we spoke for like 3 hours and got so pissed...lol...but yeah it was amazing...seeing my old buddy and watching one fucking brilliant movie...what an awesome day!

MemberOvomorphJun-29-2012 8:19 PMAnd I liked the ending. I like the idea of two Engineers talking to each other when Shaw show up on their homeworld:
"Hey man, do you remember when we created those Human things on Earth like, thousands of years ago?"
"Yeah."
"And do you remember when we created that horrible black liquid on LV223 like, thousands of years ago?"
"Yeah. So?"
"Well, some human and her head just brought that leaking sh*t here in one of our Juggernauts."
"Huh?"
