I have really been enjoying reading all the theories people have about this movie. Especially about the black goo. So many interesting ideas. I feel the need to contribute to the theorizing. First off maybe part of Scott's plan was to make us theorize. I'm sure some of you have thought of that already. Ok, chicken or egg? There are a lot of who came first theories concerning the xenomorphs and the other creatures in the film. Here's a doozy. What if the reason the engineer was so pissed was because he wasn't an engineer. He recognized the species of the Prometheus crew as the the image of the creators. Purhaps that is why the "Head Room" activated. The crew activated the goo with their presence. Maybe even their minds. Human beings were first. I know it's a stretch. Our appearence would be from a latent genome in the "jocky/engineers". One they don't like. Maybe the xenomorphs are just incidental to uncontrolled usage of the goo. Masters of the goo (sorry) could do magnificent things. That's where the saucer in the beginning comes in. That wasn't a "jocky/engineer" ship. That was a human ship.

As a begining point maybe the Black Substance was a sort of amniotic fluid again, of sorts. And from there springs forth a whole plethora of divergences, mutations of life forms and what not.

In Bakers terminology if some thing is half baked it's called Par-baked and product is often sold this way so it can be fully baked later and lure consumers with the smell of Fully Baked Freshness! It's better to watch the movie Fully baked! That way it don't matter if it doesn't make sense. In fact it might make more sense cause this movie was made for your helmet bongs.

I have a theory or two... 1) That is the Engineers created mankind for some purpose or just as a experiment without the knowledge or consent of the Creators or higher powers that be on the home world. Then some of the Engineers on LV 223 knew that if the Home World found out what they had done with the Black Fire, they would be punished (The LV 223 Engineers and those who visited Earth and Seeded us are Prometheus). So in order to cover up their wrong doings they decided to create a Weapon to wipe out life on Earth to hide any evidence of the creation they made without the consent of the Engineers/Creators from the Home world. 2) or Maybe they had a civil war or disagreement and a rogue faction was not happy at how there creations was seen and favored more than themselves as the Engineers are also created by some higher being. This Rogue Fraction wanted to wipe out both Mankind and their own creators or elders on the Home World.

If the planet is loaded with erns of black liquid. I don't think humans on earth was accident and they're trying to kill them as a coverup. I mean they can do that anytime without the black liquid too, considering intellect and weapons of theirs.

Maybe the Rouge Faction, if that is indeed who and what they both are, was trying to be 'elegant' in their Final Solution to the Human problem if you get my drift from history. Why wipe them out in an instant? There is no fun in that if you are a maniacal, hell-bent race on destruction and sadistic experimentation the likes of which can be compared to that of another twisted imperialistic regime once not too long ago in our earthly history. Better to let them suffer and die slowly, watching with perverse pleasure from the safe distance of space and that of lightyears between you as the race in question gets taken over, and decimated slowly. Making sure you left no stone un-turned as the horror and the magnitude of that horror gradually sinks in.

I do like Independence Day, especially the invasion sequence and its build up as the giant Destroyers come in over our major cities with no invitation or thought to ask us permission to eneter our global ari space. That sequence is quite dramatic and quite sinister insome ways. Because what would it look like if that was to happen? That is quite an interesting point to ponder. It reminds me of the invasion sequence of V the series. Both the original series and the remake series too.

Maybe we're a genetic experiment that the engineers weren't finished with and they planned on using the goo on us to further our evolution rather than kill us. Maybe they want us to be as evolved as them so they can have companions after being alone without other sentient alien life for millions of years.
