Similarities with Bladerunner

Not impossible that is has been mentioned before, but there are some similariites between Prometheus and Bladerunner. Batty is the leader of a small group crossing the universe in search of their creator. He is close to his expiration date, and hopes his creator will give him more life. It doesn't happen, and he realize that there is nothing waiting for him on the other side: "All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die." Weyland is the leader of the small group (even if he is hiding for most of the time), crossing the universe in search of his creator. He is close to his expiration date, and hopes his creator will give him more life. It doesn't happen, and he realize that there is nothing waiting for him on the other side: "There's nothing." In both movies, there are artificial humans living among real humans. People are seeing them as just robots, but there is more to them than that and they don't like being treated like objects.

...so you picked up on that... is it not the role of all beings to seek their creators and poke their eyes out using their thumbs?

lol @patch
Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.

No, I did not "picked up on that", I was simply making a comment regarding an observation. And I disagree, it is not the role of all beings to seek their creators, even if it is very common among intelligent species like humans to make attempts in figuring out their origin. Neither Batty or Weyland were particularly interested in their origin, they just hoped to find a way to keep on living.

"I want more life, fucker," love that line from Blade Runner, and yes that was my impression of this film, also. FAILSAFE DEVICE: four year lifespan. Obvious or not, you have to be a 'bit of a film geek' to enjoy this forum, and I do. Plus, I love the idea that Davids 1-7 have been on LV-223 at some point before, David 8 did seem to have very 'detailed files', no? PS: the BIG HEAD statue has had his eyes burned out with ACID?

David 8 memory and computing capacity is off the charts... check the Weyland site on that, and so having him comprehend sight on seen all elements of the Temple is not so farfetched... I would have expected nothing less than that. Aside from making tons of money for the Weyland Corps. D8 was the most sophisticated recon unit on the mission... and driven by Weylands directives...

Yeah. When some elements are just in more than one movie, it seems like it is something that Ridley Scott has spent some time speculating about. It's true that David seem to know a little more than one would expect, but then again, he is an expert in putting two and two together. Maybe the sequel will give some more answers. I must admit that I have only seen the movie once so far, so I havn't noticed if there are sign of acid in the eye area, but I will look more closely when it become available on DVD:
