MemberOvomorphJul-03-2012 11:20 AMI am typing this 39000 feet over Colorado (gotta love Virgin America). So, my wife, son and I saw Prometheus for the second time (again in IMAX 3D) and we still loved it. I noticed the 3D more this time...it is very subtle, it just adds a "hyper real" feel to the film until the star map, and then whoa!
I also saw a number of things I missed the first time. I had missed the fact that you could hear the Engineers talking to each other in the hologram in the control room of the Juggernaut. But mostly I missed some of the things Weyland said.
Now it seems much more clear to me. To me, the film really is about Weyland and his attempt to cheat death, and his willingness to use anyone or anything to that end. That is what drives the plot, even though that is not evident from the start.
I think with the perspective of time, people will see this as the equal of Blade Runner or even surpassing it. And what other movie in recent memory has kept you thinking about it, talking about it, arguing about it. That is what separates a work of art from just a movie.

Below I've made a couple of small edits to your above quoted words.
"To me, the film really is about David and his attempt to gain knowledge, and his willingness to use anyone or anything to that end."
I made that edit to draw attention to how your words reminded of how Weyland and David are connected via the old adage "Like father, like son".

MemberOvomorphJul-03-2012 2:57 PM@Wintermute - Please view again. Fox and Hollywood need the money and would love to have yours for viewing a mediocre Jason movie! I hear that by the 5th time you're totally engaged!

MemberOvomorphJul-03-2012 3:38 PMTremayne: This kind of post is exactly why I wasn't a fan of your recent posts before you replied to a post of mine over in the other forum. Honestly, posts such as the one you wrote above are basically nothng more than Flaming Troll posts. All that Wintermute did was express his liking for the film in a very simple manner and all you've done is disrespect him with a dose of drive by snark. Do you have nothing better to do than be a jerk towards someone just because they have an opinion about the film that is antithetical to yours? Wintermute didn't even put forth any kind of theory about the film that might draw the wrath of someone like Spartacus. Going forward I'm not wasting my time with you because it's clear that at this point you're using a fair amount of the time you spend here to pick on other members because they dare to like the film.
