MemberOvomorphJul-05-2012 6:48 AM It seems that Engineers have an almost religious relationship with the Xenomorphs, judging from the various murals in the urn chamber and other depictions/themes inside both the temple and the various spaceships. I think this can be explained with the following theory.
The Engineer race, while traveling the stars, encountered the Xenos' race. They studied the Xenos and gained great biomechanical/ biological knowledge. Eventually they allowed themselves to be evolved genetically into the perfect beings they are now. Also their technology is almost organic yet extremely powerful and effective, another gift from the xenomorph race. Finally the Xenomorph could have been further evolved by the engineers into the perfect bioweapon / bio-former for their own purposes.
In the Engineers' culture, the Xenomorph is both the creator and the destroyer, so they have an almost religious relationship which in my opinion is been depicted in every aspect of their existence.
Just a few thoughts really, sorry for my English.

MemberOvomorphJul-05-2012 8:35 AMI like your theory however I do have a different take on it.
The Xeno's as they have been depicted throughout the series always seem to take on some characteristics from the host, hence the reason why ASH said they were perfect in Alien. Also in Alien the Xeno originally came from the space jockey and it would of been the space jockey that gave it its Bio Mech. So I would say it was the other way around from your point of view that the Engineers got Bio-Mech from the Xenos.
For me the Engineers are the ones who created the Xenos( If they created us why cant they create Xenos, it appears they like to play God). Given that they seem to be very much into the Bio-Mech (suits, controls, ships) that they are indeed a very advanced species. We currently play with cells and genes and are not nearly as advanced and to create the Xeno I would say would not be beyond the engineers ability. As far as the murals go, I would not say that they are praising, but more or less showing that Xenos DNA is what is contained within the Ampules. To me the mural looks like the Xeno rising from the goo.

MemberOvomorphJul-05-2012 10:44 AM... Design is always part environment, and by that I mean whoever is in the process of designing will invertible pass on their own inherent views and personal biases, both intentionally and through their biological makeup. I think the Engineers have embraced biomechanoid engineering principles in order to fully integrated their functional designs. Take their stasis suits for example, they seem to be seamlessly integrate into their own flesh. Great thread, and thanks for sharing it.

It occurs to me that while Shaw and David are travelling to the presumed Engineers' home,,they should be able to access the Ships/logs files to gather insight into the Enginners lives..
In writing this it does seem that David had way more knowledge /operating skills other crew members are aware of.. Look how often he has altered the story by his actions..
Be choicelessly aware as you move through life

MemberOvomorphJul-05-2012 12:25 PMwhat snakes are for us, same goes for engineer and xenos. just mighty version of serpants.
Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.

MemberOvomorphJul-05-2012 12:57 PMThe engineers are superior but subservient. The Pilot bowed to the humans and kept his head down until their spat and David's communication set him off.
(He first rose and stood straight up, powerfully- indicating he needs no recovery time, THEN saw the visitors and dropped to one knee and bowed his head immediately)
I suspect they were subservient to the humans initially, but then moved on to the Xenos as evidenced by the Goo room.

MemberOvomorphJul-05-2012 1:25 PMExcellent play of thoughts and theories! I really enjoy reading all your opinions guys and I truly admire the richness of thoughts in this mega forum, through 'n' through. I was reluctant to join but now I feel so grateful. It feels like an excellent and rewarding exercise for the mind. I only hope the sum of our thoughts and beliefs on these subjects will only help Sir Ridley to build an even better next chapter in the Alien mythos...

I saw it differently. He was not bowing, he was just sickly, dizzy, tired, still waking up from stasis just like Shaw earlier.
