Why milburn did not get pregnant by oral hammerpede attack?

Holloway was infected by David with one drop of the black goo. His sperm seems to be mutated so shaw became pregnant with the squid. So far so good... ------------------------- The worms mutated because they layed in the black goo to the cobraalien/hammerpede. Then one of them attacked milburn and killed him. Was hi pregnant with chestburster or something or he was not? And why the other snake did not attack Fifield? No interest, no hunger? --------------------------------- Strange that there where more then one cobra aliens - so the worms had the same mutation from the black goo to cobraaliens, so the mutation is not by random (that one worm becomes cobraalien, and the other worm mutates to something else..)... So humans infected by black goo would all turn to some zombies with physical strength and animal agressivity, if the engineers would through the black-goo-containers onto earth.

We don't know how their life-cycle works...Maybe it's even similar to ours and those two hammerpedes were about to mate and saw milburn as a menace...

And why would the exact same puddle of mixed-up Goo-spill convert a small alien worm into a big, throat-loving, Hammerpede - but not convert Fifield the same way: instead converting him into Angry Bump-headed Man?.. Goo = Anything you like, apparently. "Goo. Does it all!...". [tm].

And if you step back a bit and look at the overall scene it is still like the experimenting/testing of the aliens/human interacttion is still going on. ...conducted by an unseen observer

Maybe male are carriers and females are hatchers? that's how the nature is around IMO.

I think what form the black goo takes has many factors, host spieces, host sex, host state of mind etc.

It could be steroid that boosts growth of species in whatever form or as per the host conditions. Something like the infection they shown in movie DOOM.

I noticed this also: Hammerpede jumps out of Milburn's mouth/throat and back into the goo stream instead of morphing him into zombie that Holloway and Fifield become... Chaulk it up as Mystery #211 (no way they answer ALL these inconistencies/questions in sequels).

I guess Hammerpede just kills Milburn, however Fifield(dead already?) maybe just gets 'infected' by the goo, I assume the 'infection' depends on the host.

I think it all depends on how much goo is ingested and the time for it to take full effect. The worms were basically swimming in it and drinking it so they transformed quite quickly and transformed a lot. Fifield only had a bit of goo on his acid-burnt face(getting in his blood) and Holloway only drank a TINY amount mixed with alcohol. I think if Fifield and Holloway consumed a larger dose like the worms did, or simply didnt die so soon, we would see a complete, and faster transformation like the worms had.

i doubt the worm had "sperm" in its "mouth"

"....the goo liquid is more intelligent...." Maybe ...smaller is better... But seriously..a smart goo...could be quite a foe...if only goo could figue out how to open the lids of the containers..

@neo: Yes, it seems that goo is itself super-engineered nano-technology. Depending on context, it's capable of creating or destroying life in a multitude of ways. Ergo, it's pretty smart stuff. Who made it, I wonder.

"..it's pretty smart stuff.." Have we seen any charactor smarter than 'Goo'?? Then there must be a creator or two still in the mix..as yet unseen..

The worms seem quite random, as they didn't seem to create anything in their victims. Either of the dudes died - one got a major burn on the face with the helmet material, as it was melted by the acid, the other got orally penetrated. Nothing happened afterwards, the worm jumped out of his mouth (mutated in his body, perhaps?), the burned dude presumably just died. We don't know what happened with the 2 afterwards, after the crew had left the pyramid...
