MemberOvomorphJul-09-2012 8:25 AMThey are both caught up in events that were linked to the title being called Paradise but was changed to Prometheus but still, it conjers up all sorts of connotations regarding Eden but is anything but and Shaw and Holloway as the proverbial spin on Adam and Eve and the whole immaculate conception thing which in and of itself is not that far from what actually happend to Shaw. By definition, she concieved of a 'life' from within her that she othrwise could not have done without the intervention of a higher power or higher mind, this being the machinations of Peter Weyland, the actions of David as a supirior intelligence and the God power being the accelorant properties of the Black Substance that David and his so called supirior Intelligence used in order to play the proverbial Hand of God upon mere mortals and thus, as it transpires, those mortals were banished from Paradise, the paradise of Eden as Shaw and Holloway were if you look at it in thinking purely In Terms.

MemberOvomorphJul-09-2012 10:51 AMI guess they could have been the Adam and Eve representation in an early script form, but in the movie they are not.
Not even Shaw's conception is an imaculate one [she had sex], so making her a Virgin Mary is out of the question.
Also, there is enough Judaism, Christianity and whatnot nose rubbing throughout the entire movie as it is.

MemberOvomorphJul-09-2012 11:39 AMHold up, I meant looselyy, but still if you think in terms, by technicality, whether she had sex or not, she was under the absolute definate knowledge that she cannot concieve... otherwise why then would she react so stunned in disbelief? So by that reconing you therefore have to infer that she was in fertile, thus incapable to concieve and it is only the actions of the infected Holloway, alright, the 'Infected' Holloway that added with his sperm somehow reconfigured Shaws anatomy to concieve. Had they done the same thing without the Black Substance playing a part in anything between them then perhaps we both would not be having this debating thought and suggestion of this idea in the first place. The theme seemed to mould and evoluve slightly though.

Elizabeth was the mother of[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_the_Baptist] John the Baptist[/url] who is the forerunner of Christ.
Cuddles was the forerunner of the Deacon (aka: "Spike").
As sacrilicious as that is, I believe that is the implicit parallel.
