Possible reason they were scanning Ford's head in the featurette

The head scanning we saw in the featurette of Ford... I was certain it was for some VFX footage that we missed in the orrery when they wake the engineer and attacks But after seeing the new figurines, I knew i'd seen the process used with a practical application other than digital: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMQ-DF3TM00 3D head scanning for a figurine maybe? It would make sense, specially to do it there and then on the actual set. It's a portable enough setup and no time like right then, when make up and character styling is 100% correct. What do you think? Would anyone still like there to be some scene cut that uses it still as well?

"You kinda know you've ARRIVED when you get an Action figure." this nearly made me weap with sorrow for where MANKIND has come. so, so, very sad ... but back on topic: yes, it was weird seeing Ford getting scanned. Maybe all the cast got scanned. Maybe there was some 'stuntman' reason why they dispatched her that way.

Probably for her digital double when the engineer megabitch-slapped her across the room.
