What is 101112?

I don't see much chance for a tv series. Sci-fi shows are expensive to make and don't get the viewership that sitcoms and reality shows get. The only channel that could do a decent job with a show would be HBO. I just don't see how it could work.

no way in hell do i want prometheus.alien franchise to turn into a tv series. sure it might start out good, but like every american tv series, each season gets worse and worse, and will run out of ideas so they come up with ridiculous stories thus ruining the entire franchise and everything built up on it

It has to be NYC Comic-Con related, right?! I'm hoping for a Prometheus 2 confirmation. Even though I love sci-fi television shows, I don't see how a Prometheus/Alien/Weyland/whatever TV show would work both creatively and financially.

yeah. A tv show would be a tough sell. As spacenik said, a prometheus related tv show would be confined to channels like HBO and showtime. Although i could see a tv show potentially adding a great deal to the new story arc, there would be a very small margin for error. In other words, the are many more creative paths that would lead to failure than paths that would lead to a successful tv companion to the film(s). Im at a bit of a loss as to what 10.11.12 could be. On the one hand, i cant imagine the news being something monumental (i just dont see us being that lucky). On the other hand, its clear that fox/scott et al. have put some thought into 10.11.12 (it being devised prior to the film's release and having been built up the way it has). They must know that they will have a boat load of angry fans on their hands if 10.11.12 turns out to be homevideo release/toys/video game etc. related. And although im personally very fond of prometheus, the franchise, frankly, cant withstand another wave of fanboy disappointment/rage. I gotta think they know what they are doing with 10.11.12. I dont see how anything but a greenlight for a second film will pacify the already raw fanbase (i guess the tv show might get some people excited). I could see the date being an announcement for a greenlit P2 and some footage to accompany said announcement. I dont mean actual footage from the second film (as i dont believe they've shot any part of a second film). They may have just shot some creative and cryptic material that hints at some of the ideas that may be explored in another film. I dunno. I guess we will see. I so badly want to believe that 10.11.12 will be worth the wait, but there are only a few eventualities that wouldnt lead to disappointment.

Yer well I too am hoping for part 2 or an announcement of it or something at least almost as big if not it could well be another nail in the coffin for this franchise :S ...

ill throw my 2 cents in. in all honesty i think we at least wont see another ridley scott alien movie . and lets just face it no one else can do it as well as ridley. from what ive heard he has a few more movies to shoot . i dont think there is a surprise 2rd prometheus ( they usualy let the public know that sort of thing). maybe the 10.11.12 thing is the release date of the dvd. but in say that i think the dvd will have lot more on it. more of ridley would want rather than what the studio wants.

Could it be the release date of a computer game? they keep delaying the colonial marines game. Could this be the real reason that has been delayed a few times.

Now that a Prometheus sequel is confirmed I'm not so desperate about this date providing anything significant. It could be just about anything and I won't be disappointed.

@gringo: yeah...im shocked that an official fox spokesperson provided the info on the sequel. Why wouldnt they have just waited until 10.11.12 to announce P2 with some more viral bits etc.? Its interesting...what on earth could 10.11.12 be?
