MemberOvomorphAug-03-2012 5:03 PMI bought the book yesterday in the evening but have not begun reading it yet.
I agree completely that the W. siblings don't have a spotless record, and I've never seen it, but it's really really clear that this is not Speed Racer (or Mach Go Go Go for all of you in Japan). Run Lola Run is a great, innovative film, as was the original Matrix. And, I'm quite jazzed that the financing came from "all over the planet" as opposed to one studio that may have wanted to assert a lot of editorial influence.
My hopes are high.

MemberOvomorphAug-02-2012 2:52 AMSukkal,
I did a piece on CLOUD ATLAS (and this trailer) just the other day - click the link.
I don't think it's 'the film we wanted Prometheus to be' but it looks very interesting with all these ties through time, etc.

MemberOvomorphAug-02-2012 3:26 AMgood god at the melodrama and the hyperbole! I suppose we all had different expectations going into prometheus, but what appears to be the "soul" of cloud atlas is certainly not what i wanted from prometheus. cloud atlas, at first glance, doesnt look like my cup of tea (could be wrong). Look ambitious. ill give it that.

MemberOvomorphAug-02-2012 5:07 AMWhoa does look mental but the matrix bro's have been miss-firing a bit since the 2nd matrix but ill watch it anyway hmmm - not sure about the prometheus link....
Ah yes another interesting vid - 3 directors all genres past present future etc. etc. :S ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2qeFxgGpM0&feature=related

MemberOvomorphAug-02-2012 7:42 AMI had to literally laugh aloud: I wish Prometheus were even the suggestion of the idea of the shadow of this...
This looks, genuinely, amazing.
[@Crabfart
I'm not sure, "the matrix bros", is quite correct....anymore...].

MemberOvomorphAug-02-2012 7:57 AMYer I see now its one of them and a writer from matrix and Tom Tykwer so that is maybe good news that 2 more directors are involved...

MemberOvomorphAug-02-2012 9:02 AMPeople complain when Hollywood keeps on remaking the same films but then want every film to be the same. That's a film I'll definitely watch, either in the theater or at home when the dvd is released but no, it isn't what I wanted Prometheus to be.

MemberOvomorphAug-02-2012 11:04 AMThanks so much for sharing and providing the link. I grabbed the 1080p version and will read the book. Cheers!

MemberOvomorphAug-02-2012 11:06 AMIsn't it Odd....That's just what we said about Alien Ressurection when we saw the trailers for Prometheus.............Know what I mean?

MemberOvomorphAug-04-2012 10:59 AMThe book is fantastic and the trailer looks great. As I'm sure everyone knows, book-to-film is always a tricky task and is rarely done right. When it comes to films I have to say I'm somewhat of a pessimist as retarded expectations can ruin a good film. I'm always careful but when it comes to adaptations I'm overly cautious about expectations.
Can't wait to hear what you think about the book, sukkal.
As far as Cloud Atlas being the film I wanted Prometheus to be, well, Prometheus WAS the film I wanted Prometheus to be.

AdminPraetorianAug-09-2012 5:34 PMOh that is the most beautiful trailer I have seen in a longtime. The song "outro" by M83 is just breathtaking.

Looks like it may be on a Promethean trajectory in terms of audience reception.
...“I'm glad this movie exists, and I hope the studio doesn't f*** it up too much thanks to test screening results. This is a delicate thing, and even the slightest of changes could make it all fall apart.”...
Sukkal also [HEART]s M83. :)

MemberOvomorphAug-27-2012 1:49 AMI've finished the book and have become a tremendous fan of David Mitchell. It's clear that the Wachowski/Tykver screenplay diverges from the book based on the trailer, but I'm still really looking forward to the film.

MemberFacehuggerSep-02-2012 9:47 AMI'm a big Matrix/Vendetta fan, and the ambitiousness of this alone I think makes it worth seeing. Plus Tom Hanks is in it, so that's a plus..

MemberOvomorphSep-22-2012 3:54 AMRun Lola Run was a surprisingly watchable (given the re-run) format, and really well made with some excellent twists.
Great cinema, like LEON or NIKITA.
