Alien Unseen: Part One - Ridleygrams
The next part will be about the none filmed/alternate scenes of Alien from the production storyboards and early drafts. Before i continue i want to make sure the first part is OK and if it's worth continuing.

I read the whole thing and thank you! It adds new light to certain aspects of the series. Like the Mice...sound familiar?
ALL generalizations are WRONG!

OK. Now, I've seen a fair few of these - but more than 90% of what's here is completely new to me, so I really need to say thank you.
Very interesting.

I was right then, the ORIGINAL XENOMORPH (i.e. c a n o n ) wasn't fully formed when it was roaming around Ridley's storyboards for the film, and was still able to transform itself and maybe others (e.g. into eggs?) thus negating Cameron's superfluous Queen in Aliens, where American-dick philosophy suggests that "In space, mine is bigger than yours".
Thanks so very much, xe-A-7.

wow, this is amazing, xenoalpha!! :)
Seems like ridley scott wanted a "lighter" version of Alien, like he did with prometheus. And the mice were probably the inspiration for prometheu's spectagraphs (Fifield's pups)
Have you heard of phoenix asteroids?

Thanks for the kind words everyone :) The second part will take a while to do but I'll get started on that a.s.a.p. I feel some info is still missing from part one so will add anything else at a later date.
@FreePlanet: The cocoon & egg morphing sequence was included in Ridley's early storyboard presentation. Cameron wasn't a fan of the intended lifecyle of the creature and so since it was cut from the film he was able to add his own. Cameron also said that if the cocoon & egg morphing scene was still intact when Alien was first released his version of Aliens would never have worked.

Very nice find, it just showcases how talented RS is. He has a vision which underlies all of his work. Though oddly the alien punching a hole in Brett's chest and removing his heart would have changed the scenario for the space jockey being attacked versus impregnated. I think he got to do a version of his "mice" with the opening sequence from Blade Runner with the Spinners flying in and out of the frame at the LA refinery. I think that his attention to details helps him create very memorable worlds that the viewer can get lost in.

"Cameron also said that if the cocoon & egg morphing scene was still intact when Alien was first released his version of Aliens would never have worked." well, exactly.

Thanks xeno_alpha!
I've seen bits & pieces of the storyboards in various places, old magazines etc.
I WISH Ridley would publish a book of his wonderful Ridleygrams. Are you listening Sir?

Once again thank you for the kind comments! Snorkelbottom gave me the idea to split the whole article. I've started part two which will be about the production storyboards and part three will be about scene revisions and so fourth.

You've just reminded me djrees56. I forgot to add the snippet about the full size shroud built for Kane.
