surely you arent surprised? Look at the current social landscape. Humans are much more interested in silly, crass, light, escapist comedy than dark, brooding, slowburning, ambiguity.

....yeah not all people enjoy scary movies...let alone movies witch rely on ancient astronaut beliefs and major big mythological questions....most people just want lighthearted fun...look at how well animation kiddy films are doing....if not that then movies about super heroes...The avengers and TDKR is respectively at no1 and 2 for 2012 biggest earners at the box office....and spidey is not far behind....

I find the infusion of human characteristics into a stuffed animal paramount to one of the greatest cinematic achievements thus recorded. If Prometheus had done a similar thing... wait they did... Milburn... but alas they just killed him instead of injecting him with comedic genius.

My first sure sniff of cinematic decline was the Jackass movie. My first sure sniff of Cultural decline was that Paris Hilton tv show, can't even remember the name. Things have certainly changed, it seems like RS tried to adjust for that, but no matter what yahoos will be yahoos and so you get bozos like Adam Savage and his merry crew of "skeptics" doing their best to tear down an achievement the likes of which they'll never realize. Kind of like when 2 of my cats get into a fight, and a third jumps in just to be an a**hole.
