Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.

AdminEngineerAug-19-2012 11:47 PMWow. This is very sad news.. My prayers go out to Ridley and family. This is a terrible loss - probably the worst way to go in my opinion. Very, very sad. R.I.P Tony Scott.

MemberOvomorphAug-20-2012 2:34 AMShocekd to hear this this morning. But why? Was it depression or something? The mind boggles.
'The Hunger' was one of my favourites of his, but then I'm a huge Bowie fan.

MemberOvomorphAug-20-2012 3:30 AMHeard this on R4 this morning. I am shocked and saddened at this tragic news, and my thoughts are with Tony Scott and his family.
This is the second brother that Ridley has lost. In 1980 his elder brother Frank died of cancer, and Ridley I believe took it very badly, and understandably so.
Rest in peace Tony Scott.

MemberFacehuggerAug-20-2012 6:39 AMJeeeeez... as someone who's brother committed suicide, I know how Ridley might feel. It's just kind of strange at Tony's age, though, don't you think? Damn..

MemberOvomorphAug-20-2012 1:37 PMBack to being a mystery again, I just wonder if anybody had a clue about what he was going through, it is so sad and shocking. At least he had a full life.

MemberOvomorphAug-20-2012 3:46 PMThis is so incredibly sad news, especially to learn how it all ended for him. From what I read, I gathered that Tony and Ridley were very close, and surely not just on or through business terms. So, Ridley if you read this, I wish that you and your family will somehow manage to get through this. I mean this deep from my heart...
Many of you Ridley and Tony Scott fans probably know that 'The Duellists' [1977] wasn't actually Ridley's first film project, it was in fact 'Boy and Bicycle' which he had written and directed in 1965. It can be found on 'The Duellists' DVD and features Tony as the boy skipping school and cruising town, which was also his first role, as far as I know.
So, in memory of Tony and in honor of his and Ridley's work, I'd like to share this short film with you in full length. May he rest in peace and be in a better place without pain.
A fan.

MemberOvomorphAug-20-2012 4:20 PMA source close to him apparently said he had inoperable brain cancer. What a terrible thing: he knew it would gradually destroy him as a person, worse than Alzheimers. Truly tragic for such a creative talent. At least he did have a full life doing what he enjoyed most.
It is a reminder for each of us to live life to the fullest, to be kind to everyone and to let our loved ones know they are loved, because each day could be our last.
