I actually like Alien 3. It has alot of Good Points: Great sets, good Acting and Some Good ideas. However, it has a few Bad Points, like the Alien Dog complete with Poor animatronics! Etc etc. But there is a Big Question that really Bugs me; HOW did that Egg get up there? In the Opening scene, where it shows Ripleys Cryo Chamber, damaged by Acid, just before they are ejected from the Salaco, it shows an Egg attached to the Ceiling? How did that get there? It couldn't have been the Queen, because she only made it to the Cargo Bay and then she was Ejected by Ripley. It couldn't have been Burke that put it there because he never made it back to the Ship. So how did it get there? and who put it there?

ahh... the "Egg" thing.... yes, that one is a bit hard to explain. Actually there is no sound explanation for it except that the director/screenwriter made it so. I never saw the extended cut with the cow in it. have to take a look.

@ David 1, AH HA, i have the answer to the eggs on the Sulaco mystery... Predators sneaked on board and plated 'em there! And you didn't see them coz they were cloaked, lol.

That alternate scene with the Ox/Buffalos is Great. Fincher should have gone with that, instead of the Dog! And the Alien that came out could have been a Big Fat Monstrosity, complete with Horns. lol

It wasn't Fincher that went with the dog concept, that was David Gilers reshooting and changing all of Finchers work

I agree the start was clunky, I never saw the Alien queen carrying an egg either after the ovapositor was destroyed previously much less stash it somewhere in the ship before fighting Ripley (which seemed to happen almost immediately after she reveals herself). I love the movie (both versions) though. I think one of the only other ways they could have had an alien on the EEV would have been say Newt being implanted with an embryo prior to the colonial marines' arrival on LV-426 and it bursting out but having a child with an alien would I think probably have been too hardcore.

Oh David Giler did it. I'll let him off, it is David Giler after all. The only explination for that Egg being there is that, there must have been somebody else on the Sulaco, an unseen Weyland Yutani Employee, who was onboard as a Backup, should Burke have problems. But for that to work, the Queen must have sqeezed another Egg out, on the Drop Ship?

@ Necronom 4, Oh David Giler did it. I'll let him off, it is David Giler after all. Seriously, I mean seriously, Watch the original version of the scene where the "bambi-burster" bursts out of the ox before scuttling away. Then watch the theatrical version with the dog... - The hole in the dogs side is the size a normal chestbuster would make. - Yet the burster, taking from the ox version, is as big if not bigger than the dog. And don't get me started on David Giler, he's a two face, back stabbing, hack - have you seen any of his own films, they're all worse than AVPR.

Also, that unseen Weyland Yutani Employee, must have been an Android, probably another ASH. Because if it was a Human that carried the Egg from the Drop Ship to the Cryo Sleep room, then surely that Human would have been FaceHugged?

I personally think, 3 was made just for the sake of it. I mean the franchise was going nowhere. You don't see any chain with which movie evolves for next part. However, in Resurrection, Weyland manages to clone and do hybrid aliens. I wonder how can they explain that when queen was killed with ripely. Anyway, too much speculation in between in these two parts. And doesn't excite me like 1&2.

Actually David1 I'm a much bigger Alien fan than I am of the Predators, I just think a bigger universe with more possibilities is better than a small universe with limited possibilities. P.S. In Your Opinion AVP is NOT Canon. @ Necronom 4, People have postulated that very possibility but with no evidence in the movies to back it up we can't say yes or no. BTW the whole "Eggs on the Sulaco" idea was yet another of David Gilers needless additions.

@Snorks. I see what you mean about the Bambi thing. I didn't know that about Giler, i must do some research lol. But i did think that the scene with the Buffalo's pulling in the escape pod, was Good. I also like the way it exits the Buffalo/Ox. I just don't like the way it walks off, like Bambi!

I like my theory. The thought of another ASH being onboard the Sulaco, hidden away, unseen.

The problems with Alien 3 are many so I'll summarise, 1. David Giler agreed to produce Alien 3 with a set release date, despite having no contracts, no script and no director. 2. Despite having a set deadline, Giler turned down three promising screenplays from Ren Harlin (Die Hard 2), David Thowy (Riddick) and Vincent Ward. 3. With a fast approaching deadline Giler contracted David Fincher to write the script and direct the movie, incorporating the existing cast and sets, with a cinematography that suffered from parkinsons. Remember, this was Finchers first ever film. 4. After Fincher had finished priicipal photography, Giler reshot most of the core scenes, despite being a few months away from release. As with Prometheus, Alien 3 should have been greenlit AFTER a viable screenplay had been composed, and Giler should have been told to stay put in the producers chair. Alien and Aliens were both successes, so too should Alien 3 have been, but because of david Giler and his incestant meddling we got a sub par sequel forever overshadowed by its predecessors. @ Necronnom 4 - the way the bambi burster scuttles off was taken from test footage. @ Sky - the USM cloned Ripley, not Weyland. But thanks for the support.

@Snorks. I respect David Fincher for the fact that he only had a small amount of time to compose a Screen Play for Alien 3, that wasn't as bad as some people make out and the fact that it was his First Film and he did such an Amazing job, with what little time he had, makes me respect him even more. It was certainly not on par with Alien! But it was far better than Alien Reserection!

I see I am already fading away from the franchise slowly :D One more thing is that the set of prison or outcast people makes it really odd for the Alien theme. I mean 1, 2 and 4 have the trapped crew member style and then this one suddenly gets nowhere with different setting.

@ Necronom 4, A screenplay that David Giler forced him to constantly rewrite, and scenes that David Giler forced him to constantly reshoot. The way Giler has treated Dan O'Bannon, Ronald Shussett, Ridley Scott, James Cameron and David Fincher is beyond reproach - never mind the fact that the only reason the guy owns the production rights to the Alien Universe is because he added Ash and the whole "corporate conspiracy" into O'Bannons screenplay, which despite some fans praise was an overused idea at the time (Rollerball, Soylent Green, Westworld etc.)

I hate Alien Reserection for a number of reasons. But the main reason is that they prolonged Ripley's suffering. They should have just let her rest in peace. But money is King.
