MemberFacehuggerAug-26-2012 9:46 AMAt the start of Prometheus we are shown the introduction of DNA into water. What we do not really know exactly is what that achieved, and where it was achieved. What we have seen is Cuddles the squid, which would certainly be more suited to an aquatic environment. The Cobrahugger would appear to be amphibian. The Engineers are land based. It’s at this point I’m starting to think ‘chicken’.
Bird’s use an egg tooth to break through the shell, which after a short time falls off. The Deacon’s protrusive head may serve the same purpose. Maybe this shrinks back. A chick is also flightless, and when you look at a chick it’s overall look does not suggest something that is going to fly. So, strange as this may seem, is it possible that the fully grown Deacon has the ability to fly.

MemberOvomorphAug-26-2012 10:29 AMMy take is that was fresh water he dissolved into, with the altered DNA being some kind of consumable reset agent for extant primates or early humans to ingest, or it's sea water and a consumable agent for creating primates?

MemberOvomorphAug-26-2012 10:30 AMVery well put. True, there is a "water" background throughout the entire movie.
Deacon the Giant Chicken vs Cuddles the Giant Squid.... aahahah. a new legend is born

MemberFacehuggerAug-26-2012 11:01 AMThroughout all the Alien franchise, and Prometheus I have not seen any alien design that is based around flight. I guess this is probably down to Giger, but there never seems to be any airbourne predators.
Don't know why this has got me thinking about food, but my mind has strayed onto the idea of a Deacon bargain bucket with a black goo dip. Just need the flame thrower used on Fifield to get the BBQ going.

MemberOvomorphAug-26-2012 11:19 AM...it might then also get dangerously close to Avatar. :S

MemberPraetorianAug-26-2012 1:13 PMLOL Deacon bargain bucket with black goo dip will now be on the Waffle-Plex menu!
Batch, the baby Deacon does have similarities to some Prehistoric birds.
Who knows it could work if it was done well?

MemberOvomorphAug-26-2012 2:18 PMIn the' Art of Prometheus' doesn't it say that the Engineers visited Earth several times in order to modify the evolution of humans? The initial scene in the Prometheus may be just the first single event to accelerate/initiate Human evolution.
Today I have been dedicated to post on as many topics as possible until I pass out from drinking too many beers.

MemberFacehuggerAug-26-2012 5:01 PMJust out of interest, the name Deacon if anyone wants to wiki it refers to a messenger. The messenger of the Gods was Hermes ( known for speed and flight) who is sometimes represented by the symbol of the rooster.
Deacon Vs That-we-can-not-mention because it is capon.
