MemberOvomorphAug-28-2012 1:49 PMOkay, saw all my other posts about Paradise-Alien connections were all wrong. Here's my Prometheus-Paradise theory: Consider this, what if Shaw and David find a literal Hell awaiting them? Not in the fire and brimstone way as much as an adulterated Garden of Eden? Something happened on the Engineer homeland, hostiles from "somewhere else" came in and annihilated the majority of their forces and resources. In their hour of desperation, they sent an expedition on LV-223 to make a weapon that the would overmatch the enemy (the black goo). They needed test subjects to make sure this weapon was powerful enough to get the job done. Thus, they go to the human race with star maps on how to find the weapon facility. After all, one of the taglines for Paradise is "The path to Hell, is pathed with good intentions".
Whatever Scott decides, I think its fair to say that Shaw and David, but in particular Shaw, are in for a very terrifying revelation.

MemberOvomorphAug-28-2012 2:13 PMI think that could be the case, if Scott speak about the Paradise, it is probably representing it as a sort of hell for a human.

MemberOvomorphAug-28-2012 2:15 PMWe don't need spoilers for paradise. Marketing team will show everything in one trailer.

MemberFacehuggerAug-28-2012 5:24 PMNot a TERRIBLE idea, but I think something a bit more ritualistic/spiritual would make more sense as far as the origin of the black goo, rather than some military necessity.
I'll be honest, I'm getting pretty sick of all the speculation about what's gonna happen in the sequel(s). I'd rather discuss what we already have and THEN MAYBE use some contextual evidence to figure out what could happen. But even good ideas make me nervous, cuz I don't want to create expectations for myself. (I'm big about avoiding trailers and hype).
Some people have some really good ideas, but others are just pulling all sorts of crazy stuff out of their ass from left field.. heh.

MemberNeomorphAug-28-2012 7:07 PMI think, with regards to the Cave painting 'invitation'? That that is the Engineers telling us 'this is where your path will lead you, if you are disobedient.' With Ridley describing the Engineers as 'Dark Angels' i assume that where Shaw and Davids head are going, is a place that's not very nice.
I think, they will touch down, on the Engineers homeworld and it will be barren dessert land has far as the eye can see. They will eventually come to a huge wall of blue, similar to what Kane encounters in the egg silo, but thicker. They can't see what's on the other side, but Shaw can just walk through it, like a ghost through a solid wall. Once on the other side of it, a very Giger like landscape awaits them.
Sorry, i'm thinking out loud again. lol
The poster was good though!

MemberFacehuggerAug-28-2012 7:51 PMDavid: No, not exactly. He didn't use much contextual evidence (for example dialogue from the film) that helps support the theories. Why would they wait for humans to MAYBE get to the planet to test their new weapon... it's unlikely and unsupported and it doesn't have anything to do with the apparent ritual performed at the beginning of the film, etc, etc. Here's an example of what I mean: Someone (I think it might have been Engineering, can't remember though) suggested that perhaps the Engineers wear the elephantine helmet while flying to make some other species "comfortable," kind of like the dialogue about David putting the helmet on to make the humans feel more comfortable around him. I thought that was a fascinating idea. That's the kind of evidence I mean. These just random ideas that don't have anything to do with what happened in Prometheus get annoying, imo.

Maybe the hostiles from somewhere else are the predators...lol jk david1

MemberOvomorphAug-29-2012 5:32 AMYes, priceless - I only watched the first 1 minute teaser trailer for Prometheus, not any of the other long ones, because that's what marketing people do. I just knew they would show too much and I am so glad I didn't cave in and spoil a superb film.
What do I want from the sequel?
More of the same... the Engineer's homeworld; some footage of Earth and the probable rescue team getting ready; (perhaps a shot of the Nostromo being designed?); and lots of footage of the other 2 planets nearby, one of which is LV-426.
What are we going to see on 10.11.12?
...a 1 minute clip of the deacon emerging from the escape pod and making its way up the hill towards the crashed Juggernaut, go inside and look at the control panel...
Fingers crossed.

MemberFacehuggerAug-29-2012 7:19 AMDefinitely a possibility - I had a similar idea my self as one possibility. Although was the engineer drinking black goo at the start? If so its actually a channel of power and creation of life one which obviously when life forms like us touch it with out knowing what to do we end up messed up like we did. And the engineer in the pod was nick named hero on set so was he a hero for the engineers or us or something else...anyway going down a dead end of thought till ridley tells us more...
what is 101112 will be a video of ridley and lindelof pulling there pants down and saying hahaha got ya - kiss that! :P

MemberNeomorphAug-29-2012 11:15 AM@djamelameziane. I think the Engineer's cryo chambers are actually reserrection pods and Bob is actually the reserrection of Jeebus Christ. LOL

MemberOvomorphAug-29-2012 12:27 PMGod I hope Scott doesn't involve the predators. No offense to the franchise, but two have directors attempted marriage between the two stories, it just doesn't work. That being said, Scott describes how it was the AVP movies that promted him to make Prometheus

MemberOvomorphAug-29-2012 1:54 PMIt appears almost clear that we would be granted of a special world in the next movie (probably some Engineer planet) to make a difference between the movie and the other SF movies around there.
I am actually wondering about what kind of events we could see on that planet, what kind of species, only the Engineers ? some startrek funny buddies (i am not serious) ? Some horrible rocky landscape ? Actually all that elements appear so common to me (excepted a very nice Startrek sexy woman, but i doubt on it).

MemberNeomorphAug-29-2012 2:36 PM@ Vyemm. Please please please NO star trek stuff! NO Predators! NO Dr Who! NO NO NO!!!
I want lots and lots of Giger and Beksinski inspired horror!
Check this artwork out. http://www.beksinski.pl/masterlist.htm

MemberOvomorphAug-29-2012 2:50 PM@necro, What giger horror will be there if scott is in mood to make something like prometheus? Even giger art will be destroyed if used again in new movie, this is age of pop corn movies. I would rather enjoy preds or similar hulk smash stuff in movie than seeing giger classic art destroyed by scoot and lindeolf.
