Many people agree that the C-section sequence is one of the best prometheus scenes, at least. I would like to know, what are your other favorite birth scenes in sci-fi (or not sci fi) ? I'll start with the birth in the beginning of 'The Fly II'. Very creative and gross. I liked how what they thought that was the baby was, in fact, a cocoon: Cronenberg's original is much better and explores some provoking philosophy, but this sequel, despite having its cliches, has some incredible and disturbing concepts too. Share your favorites, too.

I agree with you about the Fly 2 scene and also the Maggot in the Fly. But the best birth scene, for me, is the scene in V where she is dreaming about giving birth to a reptile baby. I remember watching that scene when i was about 9 and it scared the bejeebus out of me! I've seen it again since and it was very cheesy. But at the time it was pretty frightening.

The poster was good though!

if memory serves, there was a 'very classy, ahum' adult birth scene in Takashi Miike's GOZU that virtually paid homage to an almost identical adult birth scene in the 1980's film XTRO ... search for these scenes at your peril, really only for the 'horror aficionados'.

Oh, Xeno so many in my list. . . but what exactly sticks in my mind is the birth scene when in Aliens the marines go to the nest and fin this boy on the wall and later he just chestbursts. It was very emotional to me and scared me when I was a kid. Another one is the birth of Newborn and I thought as a kid:"Cool, totally different looking alien :D".

@necronom 4; In V, she didn't dream it she really did give birth to a reptilian baby and a human looking hybrid. The Fly II birth scene freaked me out so bad when I was little. :(

genjitsu: T.M.'s 'vision' is so intense. Ichi the Killer, Audition (by a book from Ryu Murakami who I love, along with his namesake Haruki) and Visitor Q. I mean, "Wow! Just 'wow'."
