MemberOvomorphSep-08-2012 4:20 PMThe soundtrack is excellent, especially 'Discovery', 'Try Harder' and 'Weyland'.
Get it.

MemberNeomorphSep-08-2012 4:28 PMI really like it. It's from the opening scene. It told me and other hardcore Alien fans that we are about to see the Alien universe in a different perspective! Even though i like that track and others from the Film, i can't help but wish that it would have been something alot darker.
The poster was good though!

MemberNeomorphSep-08-2012 5:28 PMOr something like this for the opening scene

I would certainly like to see how a scene in Prometheus would play out with that score in mind XD

MemberFacehuggerSep-08-2012 7:50 PM@ Magallan9....and anyone who wants to give this a try.
Go to the Prometheus Trailers on this site and pull the youtube link for the Uk trailer (Top left one), then turn the volume down.
Using the miracle of split screen technology, use the link I posted http://youtu.be/LJbZCqbBQVM
and play it behind the trailer. I think you will get the idea.
Very Stanley Kubrick.

MemberOvomorphSep-08-2012 9:20 PMI LOVE the soundtrack. I was reading up a little on it and apparently the composer (who has actually worked with Scott's brother quite a lot) wrote some of the music backwards and then reversed it, so it has some shrill, frightening twinges on it. Very clever!
It's all in all an incredible score. I really like it, worth the buy!

MemberOvomorphSep-08-2012 10:52 PMThe soundtrack is amazing! I stayed at the end of the movie and found that the version of "Collision" is different from the soundtrack... It made you feel more frightened than we heard in the CD... hope that I can get this version one day...

MemberOvomorphSep-09-2012 3:00 AMI totally loved (and was rather surprised by) the sweeping and expansive ORCHESTRAL SCORE of Prometheus, gave it a much more mature atmosphere.
:)
But then I also liked the strangely non-mature BATTLE ROYALE, also directed by an old (Japanese) man.
2013 sci-fi horror novels 'Custodian' and 'Tandem' available from Amazon, B&N, iTunes etc...

MemberOvomorphSep-09-2012 6:06 AMLoved it. Was not at all what I was expecting. It was like a score for some old Russian underground sci fi film on steroids, huge and bizarre. A lot of people felt it was inappropriate, and some said it was like the Star Trek score, but I don't see it. Doesn't make them wrong, necessarily. For me it was one of many welcome surprises.

Well put. I almost always prefer a good, classy orchestra as opposed to some jumbled collection of rock music or something. I love rock music, but with films like this it just cheapens them. I really love the Prometheus soundtrack, too. It has some great subtle themes in there that really compliment the mythology very well. I do wish the music in the trailer had been in the movie somewhere, though. It's pretty damn creepy.
Does anyone have scans of the actual sleeve inside the packaging? (I haven't actually bought it yet, and was wondering what all that looks like.)

I may work for the company, but im really an OK guy.

MemberFacehuggerSep-09-2012 9:43 AMOh, I also really wish the gentle piano music that starts up just as the credits roll was on the soundtrack. I thought that was a brilliant touch. If anybody knows where that piece of music can be found, or what it's called, please holla.

Personally, I thought the score was superb. Like all great music, it grows on you the more you know it and understand it. Plenty of thematic elements. One nice little touch that I appreciated was a reprise of the Engineer's flute when Weyland was re-awakened.
The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent

I downloaded it and added it to the end of my Prometheus soundtrack on my iPod... that is BAD-ASS. haha

MemberOvomorphSep-09-2012 8:15 PMThe only thing I was disappointed with was that that CD does not have all the action cues!

MemberOvomorphSep-10-2012 1:26 PMI really like the OST. Some have said it feels inappropriate or out of place. To me it really fits, I feel it cold, blue and gray, matching perfectly the film's dominant hue.
When I watched the movie for the first time, I came out of the cinema humming the main theme.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.
