I think it needed the skin scene keeping in. It would have made Milburn's fascination with the Hammerpede more credible as his interest was piqued The obvious nod to the original would have been a great touch too - it would have given more of a link to the Alien DNA thread - and maybe make you think that a bigger beast was already there

Certainly would of made me think hmm snakes shed skin like that when they get bigger - maybe I better watch my ass and get the hell out of here or stay safe till I do. The film kind reversed that logic is spectacular awfulness :P ...I must admit though that was the only really bad part in alien when he finds the shed skin and carries on looking for the cat instead of getting the fek out of there back to the others! I suppose he was supposed to be dumb though - it was quite clear. Unlike prometheus were they all act dumb sept david and dont seem to be cast as dumb characters (well most of them I mean) :S ...

@MVMNT exactly! In the end the final cut might have been done following just one directive: If it's not in the trailer, don't show it in the super-extended trai... ehrm, in the final cut.

its not just snakes that shred their skin... Spiders do and so do Scorpions and the Xeno did, so again they could all be creatures that have a Exo Skeleton.

Even humans shed their skin, after all. It's just about how much and in which conditions. On a different note: the reflections on Milburn's glasses look like glowing eyes. For a short moment I though of evil Milburn, and not just co(s)mically idiotic Milburn.

Or that he turns out to be a Bladerunner, then I'd have been utterly devastated!
