MemberOvomorphSep-11-2012 4:07 AMIn Terminator SCC the cyborgs have human like flesh over their metal endoskeletons. They also exhibit normal human like flesh and blood when damaged/shot. They also stitch themselves up and self heal.
In order to do this their flesh cells must be able to reproduce/repair.
It is unclear they have a blood circulatory system but it does seem they might.
All of this points to the fact they must have DNA or an equivalent.
We don't see David injured except when his head is ripped off by the Engineer - and I cant seem to recall lots of blood issuing forth. But if he has cells and DNA in those cells if Elizabeth can re attach his wires and metal bits and stick his head back on - you never know it might just self heal!?
Last question - does David shave?

MemberTrilobiteSep-11-2012 4:53 AMWell in the Terminator movies the T-800 Infiltrators (such as Arnold's model 101), were - hyperalloy chassis endoskeletons with a sheath of actual living human tissue. The tissue itself most likely cloned from original specimens; AKA dead/captured humans.
In the Alien movies however the synthetics are shown to have a white liquid circulatory system that feeds their motor skills but not their synthetic tissue sheath covering a molded body (remember Ash is a later model to David, thus presumably more advanced).
Although this sheath looks like skin it doesn't appear to have any qualities like living tissue - circulatory system, muscles etc. so I would presume the somewhat long winded answer to your question would be no, David does not have DNA.

good reply - we got a closer look at Ash and he is allegedly more advanced and you are correct - no blood in him!
i still like the idea of cyborgs having human tissue - just makes them sexier -
the women that is. Cameron wouldn't be quite the same if she had white liquid
spurting out of her wounds. We (me) therefore perceive her as more humanlike.
I'd better retreat to the real world

AdminPraetorianSep-11-2012 12:58 PMNo they don't have DNA, they are 100% synthetic. The white liquid is latex, which serves to lubricate the internal parts. There are quiet a few discussions on the site about that subject, just post "David" in the search function provided if you want to read them. :)

MemberOvomorphSep-11-2012 11:51 PMTo me it seems even if David is older model of Ash he still gives the idea of being advanced and all but who knows.

MemberOvomorphSep-12-2012 4:08 AMI was also concerned about this INFILTRATION aspect of Ash (when David's so upfront about his robotism) and it might be that ROBOTS are now, in Alien times, COVERT ENTITIES who noone really knows about.
In fact, noone knows that NOSTROMO had a robotic infiltration, in the form of Ash, he looked like a human, smelled like a human, I bet Ash even SCANNED as human, but this is just the same as any covert operative having multiple passports - Ash may have had an ORGANIC SCAN READING as part of his cover.
Maybe ROBOTS have already taken over the universe (as evidenced by BISHOP's ear-dislodged return in Alien 3) and in the very near future you really can't tell who's a robot and who's not ... which (unintentionally) brings us back round to Blade Runners or robots who can spot other robots.
