A monotheistic (christian-centric) parallel would be so unoriginal and lame. Unfortunately, reading some theories on this message board, you might think that this could be the case. This is what I've come across so far: [list] The original Engineers = Angels [/list] [list] The Engineer that's reawakened = Fallen Angel [/list] [list] or Engineers = angels, xenos = demons [/list] [list] Black goo = forbidden fruit [/list] [list] LV-223 is standard Biblical notation for Leviticus 22:3 –“For the generations to come, if any of your descendants is ceremonially unclean and yet comes near the sacred offerings… that person must be cut off from my presence. I am the Lord.”) [/list] [list] Janek sacrifices himself for mankind. Note* he extends his arms like Jesus and is between two others about to die, again like Jesus. [/list] [list] Virgin Mary was a "pure vessel" that was impregnated by the Engineers black goo (hehe) to give birth to a perfect human, Jesus. [/list] [list] Other impure humans spawn demons (xenos) when exposed to black goo. [/list] [list] Humans killed Jesus around the same time the LV-223 went crazy. [/list] [list] The wages of our sins (drinking black goo) is death.....by xeno. [/list] [list] The fallen angel engineers are trying to start the apocalypse by sending eggs to Earth. [/list] [list] The fallen angel engineers hate us because "God" loves us more = Weyland loves his creation David more than his own daughter Vickers. [/list] [list] The xeno's are Demons. [/list] [list] Shaw wears a cross as a testament to her faith in God. [/list] I'll add more as I find more. Please dispute these claims.

The captain actually yells "HANDS UP!" as they are flying the Prometheus into the Juggernaught's butt. So it's not the same pose as Jesus was on the Cross.............. I HAVE heard, however, that there was serious discussion in regard to making Jesus Christ an Engineer, hence the reason they were coming to kill us off 2,000 years ago......... Thank the Force it was scrapped............

Cypher's right, the HANDS UP command is merely a NAVAL TERM which means, "Get your hands off the control in case you chicken out," religion (for me) is just a distraction from the truth. It's a way for you to stop thinking and just 'religiously' practise without question: faith is a shiny weapon pointed at your head by your mommy and daddy who should have questioned more. Yes i do think some things from the movie do have ties to Christianity but then also some other Creator Myths like the Anunaki from Summaria That Leviticus quote is interesting. What about this one.... [b]Leviticus 4:26[/b] [b]And he shall burn all his fat upon the altar, as the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings: and the priest shall make an atonement for him as concerning his sin, and it shall be forgiven him.[/b] [b][/b] So yeah Ridley will be making some ties to Christ he has hinted that the Engineers had a envoy who we crucified who mankind may then had developed the Christ Story from. We dont know about what role the Engineers play, and there are many misconceptions about Demons when they would look just as Angels do. Not to say i believe in all that stuff... As far as the Last Engineer its fine to say he is the Evil one, but maybe just maybe he was the one who saved our bacon all those years ago.

Regarding the Leviticus 4:26 Well maybe LV has nothing to do with the Bibles Leviticus, i mean the whole Religion thing is only since Prometheus Plot. But Ridley had hinted that the Space Jockey was noble and benevolent this is what he said years and years ago. Recently he has indicated that the Space Jockey had done a heroic thing and that he Sacrificed himself as he knew his mission would be a one way one. Maybe he was thus trying to get rid of the Xeno Organism.

I have a few theories of my own regarding the religious connections in Prometheus but one thing that really gets me about the whole 'Shaw escaping infection because she was pure or holy' really doesn't make any sense to me because she was having sex with Hollowhead, OUT OF WEDLOCK and that, as far as religion goes, is a SIN!..... So, she isn't "holy!" She isn't "pure!".
