Actually, he's just given me the itch to watch AVP2 again, I do remember really enjoying the original AVP movie - in its mindless exploitative way. :)

Yeah, i'll admit that i enjoy AVP for being some fun mindless bullsh!t. But I saw AVP2 on TV a while back and it was a travesty.

I looked for it (online) at our local library and some idiot STOLE it back in March - why would you STEAL AVP 2? What, for keeps, for replay enjoyment, seriously? I was just curious and wanted to see it (once) for £1.25 - where's the crime in that?

@FreePlanet: I think Ridley would take issue with your statement that only [i]Alien[/i] is canon! "Generally accepted or well-established principles" concerning [i]Alien[/i] (its canon) are aplenty in [i]Prometheus[/i], and there is nothing in either movie that contradicts the other.

Freeplanet I believe only prometheus and alien should be canon to each other . As both were directed by RS (shared vision) . But if you mean that alien should stand by itself - that sounds good as well . Prometheus must then be considered as a "possible" explanation (as to ridleys intent to tell the the story of the sj/derelict - the purpose of the eggs ) and then whatever is shown in p2 and p3 must not be considered "fact" but an "exploration" of sorts - as it pertains to the sj/derelict in alien. And then the rest will will be canon to the engineer universe - their story. And the sj/derelict story being only a homage of sorts - a sideline story of sorts. If this is ridelys "new" vision for the prometheus series then why bother showing us thousands of ampules and zeno murals and the deacon ? How does this aid us in understanding the "sj "s story amd the "derelict's" story. ? Is telling us the answers to the sj/derelict not going to destroy the mystery ? And the alien franchise as well ? Meaning to say I doubt we will ever really have those answers. I like the idea of alien only being canon to itself. As far as I am concerned the only movie that could be canon to alien was the one addressing the insect like xenomorph with translucent skin finally reaching its adult life cycle using the eggmorphing idea. With a human skull trapped on the inside - a person trapped inside a horror show unable to stop the drive of the instincts Engineered into it the drive to cocoon and morph . Which is what I am hoping to see somewhere in p1 - p3. (if only an explanation as to where they came from and what there purpose is !!!) But I have no problem with all movies being canon. I just think ridley has unfinished business (I think he personally wants to answers those questions and it bugged that he never got to do so ) - but lacks the time to do so !!! His vision is the only one I am interested in . I want to see what ridley would have done had he been given the the chance to do an alien sequel . I hope P1 - p3 will satisfy me in this regard . I am hoping this is part of his "vision" for p2 -p3. Or at least p3. So that RS can say to all the directors after alien (irregardless of what he thought of them as directors )this is what should have happened. Because I know RS would done a 300 percent better job than anybody else and that includes Cameron. (even though for a long time aliens was my favorite aum) He's good but he isn't RS.

Zzplural Then its established !!!!!! Ridley is using all 4 alien movies as background info for the alien lifecycle/ attributes. Xenomorphs are genetically able to carry over memories and and imprint it s genome into the hosts Thanks for that.

Hardly! Not many people would accept that particular principle at all, least of all Ridley! Therefore, not canon. I doubt that he'd have any beef with [i]Aliens[/i]. Maybe even [i]Alien 3[/i] at a stretch. As for the AVP stuff, well, I think he described it as "so sad" that it happened, or something like that.

Zzplural SoRry I have found my reading glasses !!! I misread what you said !!! Many apologies !!! It looks like we are in agreement (well sort of). I would like only prometheus and alien to be canon so that Ridley might use the unexplored ideas of alien and tell us how a person got trapped inside a demon. What the final life cycle might of the xenomorph. Once again apologies !!!

of course by CANON, I meant only Alien (i.e. pre-Prometheus). Obviously (even with all its contentious Lindelofness) it HAS TO BE CONSIDERED 'canon' right now - anything else would be a massive affront to David8's oh-so-cleverness. :)

ZZ Odu 'forum' is such an imperfect format for inter-personal communication - you don't get any facial/attitude clues and it's all far too easy to offend or be offended. LOL Aww bless his cotton socks, he loves the AVP universe so much that he's trying, really hard, to make it fit in. I think everyone tries to validate things that they love and make it fit into THERE perspective of how it should really be (including myself). but like FreePlanet said, "ONLY Alien should be considered canon!" and now Prometheus.
