MemberOvomorphSep-20-2012 6:25 AMAfter the initial 'Alien' flute signature, there is a choral section that fades over it. It seems to evoke a feeling of huge ambitions and hopes (illusions?) being taken away from somebody who has carried them around for so long as to be permanently entrenched into their soul and reason for living. A lament of loss, grief and total disillusionment. Thoughts?

MemberOvomorphSep-23-2012 1:15 AMNot sure about the exact point you are referring to. But there are plenty of themes, both optimistic and melancholic, in this well-crafted score. After the appearance of the map on the bridge following the flutey bit, the music builds up to something that reflects wonder and awe. Followed by instant dismissal.

Veteran MemberMemberOvomorphSep-26-2012 6:00 PMIt's an interesting part of the film that many might over look but really activating a super computer with a melody and recorded for play back for future visitors? I think of the pied piper and flute playing pans of greek mythology. This is the peak of our manipulation by evil spirits! Lead down the road of disillusionment to oblivion and enslavement!
