MemberOvomorphSep-27-2012 7:45 PMSo I've recently watched extended/alternate versions trailer, and you can here clearly closer to the end, shaw saying "Where did he come from?" and then David responding "Paradise..." Go check it out. Could this mean David already knew about the engineer race?

MemberDeaconSep-27-2012 8:07 PMThere is a deleted scene called Paradise...
But i would not get too excited by it, as it could just be the scene where Shaw goes back to recover Davids Head, well the scene where she goes to put it in the bag.
The Scene where Shaw says "i dont want to go back to where we came from, i want to go to where they came from"
So this 5min 02 Sec Scene Paradise may not be a new scene as such, just the full version of the Scene where Shaw tells David she wants to go to the Engineers Home World.
Thus new footage may only be a few lines, who knows.....
The 4 Disc Edition is biging itself up to answer questions.... but ultimately i think that the 4th disc would just be a extended cut that would have the Full Sacreficial Scene, the longer Engineer and David Scene, the other Scenes like extended Janek and Xmass Tree, Vickers and Weylands King has his reign etc.
Also maybe added many other of the deleted Scenes...
Some wont make it to extended cut mind like the Final Battle, because of a GOOF!!!
That is the Engineer arrives at the Lifeboat and finds Shaw and they have a fight if you would and all through those scenes the Engineer has NO BURN MARKS. Then when Shaw unleashes her Baby on the Engineer we cut to him being grabbed by the Squid and he has Burnt Face and Shoulder on the opposite side that the Trilobite grabs him.
However they could edit that scene to show the full one until the part when the Engineer actually enters the Lifeboat and then use the theatrical version of him coming aboard.
As in this shot all the way through he is burnt which means they shot the Axe Scene, and then either before or after they shot the Engineer vs Trilobite Scene they then re-shot the Engineer enters lifeboat and attacks Shaw Scene.

MemberDeaconSep-27-2012 8:25 PMAs far as what David knows...
Well he may have been able to read various Glyphs throughout the Temple and Juggernaut, remember he looked at some in various places and never told anyone what they meant or even indicated that he read them.
He was also alone for a period of time when he went in to the control/pilot room and he may have been able to get information from when he was there and then again he may have been able to pick up conversation that the Engineers had in the control room Hologram.

MemberOvomorphSep-27-2012 8:52 PM@big dave: They can leave the story open for so many cool ideas if they like with david being a robot. All he would have had to do is scan the places he went and process the data later to find out all the info they could need. His short time observing could well be enough time to gather all possible information. Take the map room for example...He could commit the entire 3d projection to memory and revisit it any time he liked. He probably knows volumes more than he has let on to. It will be interesting to see.
ALL generalizations are WRONG!

MemberOvomorphSep-27-2012 9:15 PMThere may be a shot of "Paradise" (the home world itself rendered graphically) as a function of the alternate ending, but I kind of doubt it. If it's there, it will be a nice surprise. I agree with BigDave. It makes sense that David knows the word in Engineer for "Paradise" based on his linguistic relationship with them after arriving on LV_223. It's Urnaayaa, by the way.

Thats the one but it actually sounds like david when he has his head ripped off on the floor - with liquid in his vocal chords - I am betting thats when he says it to weyland.
This is all sounding very rehearsed I am hoping this is a full extended version you can watch from start to end and it was part of ridleys plan from the start - it could end up being very clever if its done right. But its a little unclear for now :S...

MemberFacehuggerSep-28-2012 5:58 AMOkay. I heard it this time. I wouldn't necessarily consider it a "spoiler," cuz the original title of the film was "Paradise." But it is revealing none-the-less. Must be something David read on the inscriptions throughout the tunnels.

MemberFacehuggerSep-28-2012 10:32 AMI guess we will see if it is the human understanding, or the android understanding of 'Paradise'? Are we assuming David is referring to what we would call Paradise, or what HE would call Paradise?

MemberOvomorphSep-28-2012 1:10 PMI've just heard that David refers to it as Paradise in the alternate ending

MemberOvomorphSep-28-2012 1:29 PMHere is the video of David's head telling Shaw where the Engineers are from in the alternate ending footage:

I'm also encouraged to hear that the Engineer dialogue has been restored (in intelligible form) to the original Elder Engineer Ceremony opening. My theory is correct that they feel that this is some of the most valuable content from the original production so they're using it to drive DVD/Blu-Ray sales. Ahhhh, capitalism. ;•)

If you have obtained the Blu-Ray illegally, you are not supposed to be discussing that here. How is it that you have it so far in advance of its proper commercial release?

MemberOvomorphSep-28-2012 1:56 PMAh, yeah!
Some of those images are really good. And also the Engineer tech seems more a more distant to the biotech look on those scenes...
I like it...some promess for the sequel. All in all may5be not an ALIEN sequel to what I would desire, but a worthy movie to watch per si
And yes, official material. "Who Created the Alien" ok, it was a bioweapon and that is it, as some were still expecting to see a planet with naturally evolved xenos...forget it XD
For me, good that. Such a creature would loose its aura if it was something natural...
