MemberOvomorphOct-01-2012 9:53 PMIn the early parts of Prometheus I recall David having what seemed to be a live video-chat session for language lessons. That entire sequence suggested to me that he has been doing this routine for sometime (before they reached their destination) & I was wondering: If they are able to communicate directly to earth from such a distance, couldn't they have communicated back some data/video to earth after they found the dead engineer? Or after the bizarre zombie breakout & subsequent deaths?
I may have missed something but it seemed that their technology was allowing for such communication even far into their journey & personally was wondering if back on earth they did get this data & learned about SJs/Xenomorphs from this mission?
Your thoughts please my fellow nerd-community.

MemberOvomorphOct-02-2012 12:29 AMThe impression I got is that the language lesson(s) were a computer simulation, not a live video chat!
Perhaps Fox missed a trick in not releasing something like a Rosetta Stone 'Learn to speak Engineer in two years' program. Or perhaps that's to come.

MemberOvomorphOct-02-2012 7:05 AMI can see how it looked like a live video feed due to the interaction but I am guessing the language program has built in responses contingent upon the quality of work students produce. If David had made a huge error the sim would have given a different response.

@godofgsxr.; You put the balls on the wrong end, the tip is at the back of the head. See how Giger drew it :P. "The more you know"

MemberOvomorphOct-02-2012 5:20 PM@svanya No no no this one is upside down, using his chin as the top tip. Wow am I having this conversation?
Anyways thanks for your reply. It did not occur to me that the program was not a live chat until you and @markweatherill said so. To be honest I thought it was weird that David could not just learn such language skills instantaneously, so I assumed the man he was talking to was real and it was a practice in real interaction or something.
Cheers
