MemberOvomorphOct-02-2012 11:13 PMDoes anyone know if the new blue ray collectors edition also will come out in DVD format. I would like to see all the extra material but only have DVD format. I already have the DVD version that came out in September and there was not very much extra material on that. The new 4 disk set sounds like it has lots of extra stuff on it. Not that it would answer the questions everyone has, but still it would be fun to watch.

AdminEngineerOct-02-2012 11:51 PMAs far as I know, that gigantic list of extras is exclusively for Blu-Ray copies of Prometheus. It makes sense, as soon DvD will be obsolete, as what happened with VHS and soon everything will be Blu-Ray exclusive and then 3D.. though I'm not a huge fan of 3D TVs at the moment, still in early development.
I'm in the same boat as many of our fans are however, I don't own a BluRay player or PS3 (Xbox 360 only) to watch BR discs on.. so I'm gonna have to invest in a cheap Blu-Ray player for the time being.
But unless I hear otherwise, I believe the features you're talking about are for Blu-Ray only.. but don't quote me on it. I'm gonna look into an accurate answer for you.
Hyped for: Alien: Romulus | Badlands (Predator 6) | Cloverfield 4

MemberOvomorphOct-02-2012 11:54 PMYou can get a decent Blu Ray player for about $100.
Might as well get one now.

MemberOvomorphOct-02-2012 11:55 PMthe 4 disc collectors edition (blu ray) does look fantastic. However, those who do not have the ability to view blu ray discs will not be able to access the full range of features available (im certain about that). In addition, i think many of the questions that are out there have answers that are either A) implied in the film or B. not addressed for a reason. Ive been reading around on the internet lately and i am just shocked at the frustration level surrounding this film. The newly expanded universe of prometheus has provided me with a great deal of cinematic joy/fulfillment. I keep wondering what exactly must be wrong with me...lol
as others have said... excellent opportunity to invest in hi def gear. If you are into film, there is really no other way to watch a movie. Blu ray is the real deal (imo)

MemberDeaconOct-03-2012 11:29 AMDVD has a long way to go yet.
But it has appeared that versions of movies to contain loads of extras are now being favored for Blu-Ray.
You used to get most special edition movies on DVD that came on double DVD, where the movie would be on one Disc and Extras on the other.
Dont forget that DVD9 media is 3X less storage than Blu-Ray 25 and thus 6X less than Blu-Ray 50, thus much more room to fit not only Hi Definition Video but also a whole host of Extras all on one Disc.
