Alien: Earth and Alien: Romulus sequel news

The next installment might be better planned

I heard on one of the blu-ray extras that the Prometheus plot was ever-changing 'on the hoof' and even during post-production. Maybe the sequel (if there is to be one still, who knows) will be much more meticulously thought out with the first film acting as a firm bedrock for a more complex linking plot, a lengthier film and (hopefully) a little more intelligence in the dialogue. Is a draft being written does anyone know? I'd have thought they'd be writing feverishly by now in the wake of the film's success.

I heard that Fox are planning to release prometheus 2 in 2014 but it depends if Lindelof is going to stay and write the sequel. If not they are going get a new writer for the sequel.

Yes, I agree with you, LX, this one should be given it's time and cut loose aspects that could be argued as nonsensical.

Plot was changing on the hoof ? Ah crap that's not what I wanted to hear ! Means the haters are in the ball park with the lovers left out side. I always felt this just didn't want it to be true. The amount of people that were preaching how it was all planned out etc. . This really shows how deep this all is! :'-( . So I guess the 11th thing was one big fat nothing? I have been traveling so not been up to date. Anyway it's not over I guess but that's a few more nails in the coffin :-( . On a mobile so can't check much. Maybe the date was British?! I hope so !

DJ- I loved it as you know and the depth, real or imagined, is just a bonus. Could be though that the ideas just kept coming and they tried to go with whatever worked. Spaights' script was apparently always the framework so if that's true the story was already in place. Anyway, no worries, my opinion hasn't changed! For your ( hopefully ) enjoyment, read Paranoobius part one in the Prometheus Discussions forum. Let me know what you think.

There is no denying that Prometheus--while well intentioned--was a well-intentioned mess. To maintain a dialogue with Prometheus is like speaking with a schizophrenic crazy person who keeps mentioning various different topics, but when you ask about a topic, it skips to another unrelated topic. To make sense of it all, you have to go back to when the guy was sane and learn about who he was before he went crazy for any of his ramblings to make any sense. That's what the Special Features on the home video release are. They are the excuses, the explanations, the thought processes about what Prometheus was when it was a single, cohesive concept, but the studio had to take the core out of it and put something else in that didn't belong there.

Promethues has left us all hungry for more, so I believe they acheived their objective. I would personally have sat through a 4-hour movie, had they done it that way, too!

Watching the special features on the blu-ray and the interview with Spaihts you get the feeling that he had something more to say but held back. He said he was taken back, surprised when the studio brought in Lindeldorf. By the time he entered the project Spaihts had re-written the script 4 times based on the changes RS made. Spaihts consider himself a real fanboy of Alien so he put his heart and soul into the first script. Keep in mid this would have been his first real movie script actually used. RS was on board with all the writing he had done so somewhere along the studio decided that a change had to be made and brought in dinkeldorf without telling Spaihts. Seeing some of the early conceptual art you know this movie would have been a wild ride. I like the end result but may have loved the original idea if it went all the way.

Yer I do need to sift through the blu ray one day soon to finaly make my mind up . But the posts havnt brought me much hope so far...so I guess I didn't miss much then...very strange all that build up then nothing :-O . Would of been so great if they built the story through 3 parts then worked back and made some brilliant twists etc. . And given clues via viral etc. All had such great potential.... anyway as I say still hope for something great least my hopes are lowered now. ....
