Perhaps the Pilot controlled his ship with his mind while in the trance like state - which would explain why he would be sealed in a pressure suit, as any accident outside would lead to a massive shock for the Pilot and thus the ship.
It could also be suggested that the buttons on the ship contain some sort of mind reading properties that work the same way as the ship. Think of the destination and push the button - the computer will find it.
I think this explains why the buttons seemed to be made of some sort of rubber material.

MemberOvomorphOct-17-2012 12:19 PMPerhaps but the pilot does press a few buttons on the display in front and grabs the handles as depicted in Alien which suggests some physical manipulation of ship controls.
In Space, no one can hear you fart.

MemberOvomorphOct-22-2012 12:37 PM I saw this suit up sequence as the pilot preparing for battle..big..life changing event...
Sort of reminds me of after making a life decision..taking a big breath and then go ahead and tackle a project.
The whole scene showed that the Engineer knew what needed..had..to be done..and for whatever reason he,,The Last Engineeer,,was 'chosen' to preform the duty..
There was no question in nhis mind,,as to the what was expected.
Now I will say that as soon as the Juggernaut sort of lifts off, that he didn't try to destroy the moon and all remaining humans,,thus ensuring his goal of destroying earth, was be ensured. Also could have destroyed Prometheus before the ramming ..and the Engineers ultimate downfall.
Be choicelessly aware as you move through life
