MemberOvomorphOct-17-2012 1:03 PMWatching the special features that came with the 3-D blu-ray set, Ridley Scott explains that while filming David in the discovery of the Star Map room, they brought some nice big sound speakers in and played Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd to set the mood.... I thought that it was awesome to see that Ridley Scott at even his age, the film crew and David played the entire sound track of Dark Side of the Moon to set the pace, mood and atmosphere while filming that scene.
Also in the special features as the staff reviewed the takes from the day filming, they sat around with Ridley Scott, sipping on some very expensive wines discussing the day, must have been some happy times filming and making Prometheus...... I find that very kool..... wish I was in their company

MemberOvomorphOct-17-2012 3:38 PMYou have to remember @fader that even though Ridley is close to 75, he was 32 when The Dark Side of the Moon came out. So I imagine that he has heard that album ( or CD ) numerous times. The Dark Side of the Moon is one of the top selling albums of all time. Its psychedellic heaven for many.

MemberPraetorianOct-17-2012 4:07 PMYup, Dark Side of the Moon still sounds as good as ever!
It would certainly have created the right ambience for the filming of that scene.

MemberOvomorphOct-17-2012 4:26 PMI'm a very big, big fan of Pink Floyd, seen them in concert 2 times, have all their music on CD/tape/albums. Including several of David Gilmore CD's as well. Ridley Scott and Pink Floyd have one big thing in common, both have always been way ahead of their time, in music and movie making imo.....
I think it would be cool if Pink Floyd did a couple sound tracks for the upcoming sequel of Paradise

MemberPraetorianOct-17-2012 4:33 PMMe too fader, loved 'the Floyd' since my teens.
How sad that Rick Wright passed away. I'm sure Dave Gilmour could create some beautiful sounds!

MemberOvomorphOct-18-2012 7:39 AMYeah, I'd have loved to be on that set. Especially when the lyrics to "Breathe" came along.
"Breathe, breathe in the air. Don't be afraid to care."
Does that remind you of one particular character in the movie?

MemberFacehuggerOct-18-2012 12:10 PMPink Floyd & Sir Rdley Scott are masters in their respective fields!
They create art for you to interpret as it makes you feel alive!
Dark Side of the Moon is selling every day, and so is Alien!
Once you evolve, you find the classics!

MemberOvomorphOct-18-2012 1:16 PM@Rubirosa, last time I heard dark Side of the Moon was still selling in the top 100, I do not believe any other band can claim that record...
@Lone, I can think of a few PF tracks that would fit for the movie... It was a sad day for me when I read that Richard Wright had died of cancer..... If Gilmore and Scott got together for a sound track or two for the sequel that would be awesome. Gilmore can make those strings sound haunting on his guitar....
@zzplural, now that song does fit Holloway when he removed his helmet...
@Cerulean Blue, they will be legends forever, RS stated "in 30 years they will be still analizing his movie Prometheus" in the special features...
@ZetaReticuli, PF light shows during their concerts were as good as the Star room light show, and PF was not cgi, wonder if RS got that idea when he attended a PF concert?

MemberFacehuggerOct-18-2012 3:12 PM@fader - If Sir Ridley saw The Pink Floyd in a live show, some time before say, 1977.......he could have very well been 'seeing some things'!

MemberPraetorianOct-18-2012 5:23 PMHey, we all have something in common with Ridley.......great taste in music & movies!!! ;-)

MemberOvomorphOct-19-2012 12:31 PM@Lone, C.Blue and ZetaReticuli, I was wondering if you all have listened to Sir Ridley Scott's commentary while watching Prometheus. Imo Scott is rather cocky as he comments throughout the movie. I suppose he has earned that right to be so due to his awesome talent in his vision, director abilities and such. Where as I have listen to David Gilmore in some interviews and Mr. Gilmore is rather humble... If there is any truth to the fact that Fox, Ridley Scott and the powers to be do read these fan sites to get ideas or consider suggestions, and they can consider on having Pink Floyd do a few sound tracks for the upcoming sequel, I hope they select the "Comfortably Numb" sound track as one......

MemberPraetorianOct-19-2012 12:50 PM@fader watched Prometheus with Ridley's commentary today.
Well I could listen to him all day, he can come across that way but he knows what he wants & how the end product will look, so I think in the end his self-satisfaction is justified.
What drove me insane was that he deliberately never commented on some of the elements I wanted him to!! LOL
I'd love for that to happen fader, would definitely be a cool soundtrack!
