As Shaw is preparing to close the bag,,with David's head..she says..'I'm Sorry' At first I thought it was a little humor with Shaw feeling sorry to close the bag over David's head.. But then ..since she says the words right after speaking.. "You're a robot"..it occurs to me that she was sorry that David could not understand the human feelings/soul/ reasoning for seeking out the Engineer's home.

Indeed so... a robot is unlikely to be offended by the practical solution of zipping his head into a holdall, even one as super developed as David. Shaw may well feel sorry for David that he doesn't understand why discovering the answer to her question is important.

I really like Shaw's acting but that specific part of the film I don't find it to be logic. After the "cruel" way David had treated her (with the cross, the thing about her father on the med pod, etc.) why on earth is she so submissive with him?? I'm not saying I'd prefer the "you're a fucking robot version", but at least another version where she showed some anger.

in the extended ending she says, "...because you're a FUCKING robot," then GRAB S HIS HEAD BY THE HAIR and throws it into the bag. Much more strident than a polite 'sorry' placement. Which should have been left in? Who knows... Ridley made some decisions, and that's that.

Thanks for the 'extended version' scene, That would make it quite clear as to her feelings... The regular release ..seems like she feel sorry for David. I suspect his intentions are still not quite known to Shaw...or audience..

it doesnt have to meen anything, thats just what she said. Im pretty sure she wasnt refering to his lack of understanding for the human soul. he replies "that´s quite alright". Then she zips the bag.

Sorry, but I am still quoting Pink Floyd: 'Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way, The time is gone, my song is over, Thought I'd something more to say.......' I love David8's demeanor!

he replies "that´s quite alright'...... I think at that point of the story David would say anything,,to gain Shaw's assistance.. Now let's get on with the adventure...

@geogap - There is no dark side of LV-223, in fact, it is all dark! Gotta love the voice-overs on Dark Side of the Moon!

I agree with Korpen, It was just a light hearted moment thats all, a little bit of humour, I'm sure David would never have thought that he'd have to have his head popped in a bag so he could be rescued!

its kind of interesting to me that the deleted scene shows so much anger and hate compared to the theatrical version. if sir ridley decided to use the angry version, i think that would be the mood that shaw is in and how she talks to david throughout paradise

I like the deleted scene better than the theater version... The way David treated Shaw as well as killing Shaw's lover, she should have booted his head off the Juggernaut for 3 points, then used the head like the ball in a Polo match upto the next Juggernaut, leave his body on LV-223.... Once his head is re-attached, I'd think Shaw would be alittle scared to have David around unless she installs a secret kill switch....
I should reach the frontier in about 6 weeks. With a little luck, the network will pick me up. This is Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo....

its not so easy for her to just get rid off him, since he is the only one of them who knows how to fly the ship. she kind of have to bring him. Shaw: Why should i listen to you? David: without me you wont get out of this place. or something like that.

You make a lot of sense @korpen. Shaw may hate David but she knows that she needs him if she ever wants to get off the planetoid.

This was the transparent motivation for Shaw going back for David... she’s stuck on LV-223 otherwise.

Thing is, it has to be said Noomi's performance was pretty weak. I didn't care about here at any point, and I actually found here annoying. Her dialogue sounded forced and extremely clunky in delivery. Another thing is that I'm not sure why Ridley was changing peoples' accents up. Almost everyone on board was English, but then he gets two English actors (Rafe and Idris) and gives them American accents and then makes Noomi attempt an English accent?! She still sounded Swedish!!! Why not just let her be Swedish? I thought Noomi put in a very weak performance indeed. Every time I watch the film I literally start grinding my teeth at the clunky mess of a dialogue. Still....I'd slam her everywhere.

And that, "you're a fucking robot," deleted scene was WOEFUL!!! Piss-poor delivery of dialogue. They should've left in the Engineer speaking, though. That was beautiful.

@ADH0983 I agree with you concerning her accent, it´s very swedish. But her performance is great tough.

"its not so easy for her to just get rid off him, since he is the only one of them who knows how to fly the ship." This. Also, I think Shaw doesn't take all the bad things David did to her personally. She thinks logically. She knows he did those things because that's what he was programmed to find a particular set of results.
