There is no extended version on any format; the alternate beginning and ending are in the form of deleted scenes. They are extras on the DVD.

No there are no special features what so ever on the DVD, not even any deleted scenes I don't think. You had to buy the blu-ray for those at least for the alternate ending and beginning. As well as the majority if not all of the additional footage (making of documentary, interviews etc.).

@ It'sLikeAnAnthive:
I have misunderstood something here. Are you saying that the Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy that I just purchased yesterday does not have the 7 hours featurette?!!?
Is that on the Collectors Edition????

as far as i know, you have to have the 4 disk version which includes the 3-d disk to have the seven hours of additional features.
in that version the blu-ray disk contains the "deleted scenes". - i dont know if
those scenes are also on the other blu-ray version that does not include the 7 hours of additional features.
i have the 4 disk "collectors" version and there is no longer cut of the film. to my knowlege, a longer cut of the film is not commercially available in any format. only the theatrical cut and deleted scenes are accessed as a seperate feature.
i hope this helps.

The DVD and the blu-ray do have the deleted scenes but that's it. The 3 disc blu-ray has the extended special features. There is no 4 disk version as far as I'm aware. There things aren't exactly hard to find out :P
