From the movie's beginning,,the scene is lacking any kind of decorative,,,non practical details. Nothing on the robe..no ink on the Sacrifial's body..give a hint of personality.. However the Vase lid(removed by what seemed to my eyes ..muscle bound hand/fingers) had details,,decorations..symbols that were there for a purpose.. The ampules had no markings..at all...plain..practical ..functional.. Yes there were symbols in the Big Head room...but..nothing what I would call personal.. If nothing of the Engineer's persona..is displayed ...anywhere in this movie..that sort of makes them one dimensional...and I can't believe Mr. Scott would not 'flesh out' the Engineer's Tis might be addressed in the next installment where the Engineer's world is more fully explained and humans take a back seat in the overall script.. Look at the visual differences in the Prometheus Crew members,,and I wonder why there is not even a hint of individual Engineers.. I can't wait to see pix of the Last Engineer's family..and pets..

The ampules most certainly featured embossed symbols.

The detailed cap of the sacrificial jar just seemed decorated....more noticable that .other containers depicted in the movie.. I'll observe more closely in the next viewing..

Fortunately, I've heard that in the collector's edition of the DVD, they give an extended scene where the engineer replies to David before attacking. I don't know why it is, but so far the aliens are always neglected like this. The whole film, Prometheus, wasn't scary. You finally get to see the engineers and in the theatrical release he doesn't even say anything! It would have been much better if they got to read some of the writing on the ship, and if they got to talk with the engineers, even if they were taken prisoner first.

Try watching Sesame Street followed by The Ring. The first will explain everything for you, so you don't have to think too much. And the second will make you hide under the duvet. Do you have anything to say about Sacrificial Vases?

In watching the movie last night it was pretty clear that each scene(leading up ro the Last Engineer),,was setting the table for something,,,the viewer just don't know what. Once the Last Engineer is on the scene,,and then to the end of the film....it was like a thrill ride,,grabbinbg your attention..and not letting go,,especially the horrid events that Shaw had to endure. This was also the comments my wife and her son. Since I knew what was going to unfold,,I could also observe their reaction throughout thye movie. At no time did they say they were bored,,,or comment about the lack of action. Confused about some events,,,,trying to sort out all of the charactors . yes.. Scared,,not so much as amazed what was happenning..

@ZZplural: I was just saying that it is hard to learn about the engineers, in terms of symoblism and art, and anything you can.
