Forshadowing for the Deacon?

I popped in the movie today and realized something that I'm not sure people have picked up on. Is anyone aware that when David initiates the memory hologram of the Engineers running through the corridors, the sound that startles all of the crew happens to be the same sound the Deacon makes after it's birth? The gurgling shriek that the Deacon lets out when it protrudes it second jaw is exactly the same noise as when the Hologram starts. Maybe this means they Deacon (pre-xeno) was what they were running from? Maybe the mural of the alien in the big showroom was actually a reminder that this abomination of a creature has happened before? If so, then we can say that the adult deacon is what killed that mound of Engineers. Perhaps the Adult version of the Deacon is the Queen? Food for thought, my friends!

How can we be sure the Deacon can become a Queen? It may be considered some sort of royalty when its spawn is full grown. What if the absence of females seen so far in the Engineers starts to transfer over to the Alien itself? It was born from an Engineer, and it's a weird hybrid strain. The engineers seem to have removed female or sex neutral elements from themselves (or the Elders did it)... They lack any true nipples... Something is wrong with the Engineers' x-chromosome, but because they're a genetic match with us it's only been repressed... I won't go into depth about how this ties into the male-only auto med device. Designed only for the King, not for Vickers. Not designed for the person who should have been considered a potential Queen. It's partially about male control now. Whereas people always thought Alien was about female empowerment; this series really will be... But for now the female side has been repressed. The all male Davids, all male Engineers (so far), and Weyland's preference for a son that is mechanical is further evidence of this. But a "King has his reign and then he dies... it's inevitable". Eventually the Queen and eggs genetics will fight back and be allowed to be fully expressed, taking control from the Deacon and/or King alien genetics... The deacon's sort of a hermaphrodite that leans more towards the male side... more towards the morphing based cycle that morphed Holloway's sperm and overwrote Shaw's infertile ovum. The female genetics that allow a Queen to arise when born from a human are still there but they've been repressed. Instead of a Queen Alien and how she controls/represses her male subjects and drones, we get to meet an Alien King and how he represses his subjects to maintain control for as long as he can before the female genetics come back to the surface... The mural is the old form of the genetics... The engineers messed with the fire... They tried to enhance the bio-weapon by removing the female side of the genetics (as has been done to themselves), hybridizing/storing/breaking it down within the black liquid, to increase the dependency on the morphing based life-cycle. This was a big mistake.

They thought they could control the new form of it, because even the old form was slightly uncontrollable. We're not supposed to know that this thing is a new form of Alien-- a King. We're supposed to see the familiar images and think one thing (like the juggernaut crashing in the trailers=LV426), when what we find will be the opposite of what we expect... We went looking for Gods and we found hominid-like beings. "Mortal after all" We now expect that a Queen could come into it, but this is a very different form of Alien who only resembles the original. Instead we find a King.

The clues have all been planted so that the addition of a King is not so sudden and makes sense in the context of the broader story. Another possible meaning to "Big things have small beginnings". It allows Ridley to connect the King to the Queen idea eventually, as well as LV-223 to LV-426. Paying his respects to Cameron and connecting to the series, but having wiggle room to go back to his morphing-cycle idea... It's a series about how multiple mommies and daddies met. Something that doesn't normally happen with the Alien King/Alien Queen genetics, because normally one side is always repressing the other... For a Queen to arise the King has to be dead and this becomes the explanation for why we've never seen one before in the early stages of a hive. They arise only under particular circumstances, and once a Queen arises the egg laying method becomes dominant when the Warriors and drones can protect her, becoming her servants. The Queen may actually be the end to the King's reign. If Vickers statement is indeed prophetic then it's inevitable that this is the way Alien hives/kingdoms turn out...

Hey MCWaker, your very observant, I caught that scream a couple months ago and posted the same concept/idea..... Also if you listen close enough you can also hear some evil laughter from time to time in the movie. The first evil laughter is right after the scene of the human dna/cells are multipling, next evil laughter is right after Holloway ask Shaw the carbon dating of the dead headless engineer.... several other evil laughters in other scenes as well. Ridley Scott states there are many hints throughout the movie, the scream of the Deacon is one of them right before the engineer holograms come running down the corridor as you mentioned. Is it a male xenomorph?..., who knows, who cares at this point, allot of useless specalation on this site, best guesses and wishful thinking, but that is what makes this site fun to be on, just some fans get alittle extreme
I should reach the frontier in about 6 weeks. With a little luck, the network will pick me up. This is Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo....

I really think all the King and male themes are vague foreshadowing towards a King Alien. This is not what we're expecting, so we can't look at all the clues in that way yet. And the hints can't be too obvious a form of foreshadowing yet, or else things become too predictable. Even the fact that Millburn views the Hammerpede as female, while Fifield asks if he really thinks "that thing looks female?", can be related to this. It can be viewed either way. Vaguely resembling either sexual organ... however it then reveals the hood that resembles a King cobras. A hint to the genetics containing both sexual elements, however one side becomes dominant. In the old series the Queen always had her reign. Ridley had nothing to do with the Queen, but Fox may still want to force some sort of relation to it. Instead of a Queen's reign we may find that free of eggs, and traditional facehuggers a King will have his reign and then he dies... It's inevitable, the traditional, rightful ruler to the Alien throne will step up and challenge the King genetics. This may actually be played out by how David chooses to conduct his brief war against the Elders, choosing to fight fire with the new form of the fire. And witnessing what happens. One side of the Alien genetics will always be the clear logical ruler, even with this particular strain of it. The male side needs to be able to procreate when a Queen and Eggs are absent, before a hive is constructed. The queen has the benefit of having additional workers to protect and allow her to remain stationary while pumping out many eggs. The King has to be a little more mobile, a little more adaptive, and has to be able to function when there are no other face-huggers being created... It's more instinctual than logical, but like Shaw and David both creatures are a mix of logic and intuition. There's a reason Janek is reminding them time is still moving the same (for them). "Haven't you ever been out in deep space"... is something like the line he says in the deleted scenes, and it will carry a lot more meaning further on in the story.

In fact once you understand David is doing a lot of deceiving many of his lines are foreshadowing, or could be foreshadowing... e.g. "Doesn't everyone want to see their parents dead?" could be related to what has gone on with the Engineers and their Elders, and is definitely related to Weyland's death. It's like he's Pinocchio a little bit, and can't lie... he is forced to make a statement about what he's doing in some cases, or he simply chooses to. He lies because he can... he's found a way and the key is choosing what to believe... Sometimes David withholds information to avoid lying or having to mix it with double meaning to hide his true meaning... The fact he chooses to not only look like Lawrence, but also quotes the movie with "Big things have small beginnings" is a huge clue about what David wants to happen. But he may not get what he wants. "You can't always get what you want". There does seem to be a certain "facing the music" theme in Prometheus. Played out through Vickers/Janek but also through the Engineer's culture/controls. Which brings us back to Lindelof's comments about the Rolling Stones concert analogy and the song "Satisfaction" + Lindelof's mention of an encore. You'd need to look back at some of the interviews and even the lyrics to the song Satisfaction to understand what Lindelof may have been hinting at. In that same set of interviews Lindelof mentions the song "Sympathy for the Devil". The cultural element is huge, something is wrong with the culture of the crew's time. "Hello I'm David", hope you guessed my other names. There are certain influences on this movie that point to a Lucifer/Anti-christ/Satan/Poseidon/Ea connection, or a false god theme. There's a definite reason Lindelof chose to reference those songs in his analogy. Similarly there is a definite reason that Janek sings the song he sings. Vickers has all those books that we see in the deleted scene, plus a musical interest and she doesn't know who Steven Stills is. "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with". Janek didn't see himself having an emotional connection with Vickers-- it was all about sex... Vickers is not the same as Janek. She doesn't have it "in her" to lead. Shaw does. You learn to love Shaw and the new series as you get used to all of her faults and find out they are actually her strengths as well (strongly implying this will improve our image of the Queen and the bug thing as well by making it more about dominance, rather than complete submission).

@Mala'kak Music choices,, All the musical selections relate to 60's and early 70's.. Of all the possible musical eras why those choices? Perhaps it is the reflection of the writers and even RS..because it was such a big part of their lives..not so much of Janek..and of course Vicker's.. I doubt if many site members even know of Stephen Stills..and his musical biography.

Hmm Yea that places you squarely in the mid 20th Century,, and in the minority of site members knowing Stephen. Did you make it to Woodstock? Did you meet Weyland?

there has been mention of screams and laughter in this film's soundtrack. I noticed that , especially Prometheus scenes. there is always some sounds in the background Not quite music all of the time but to my ears(and i know this is crazy) like spirits singing/ voices like a small choir. Cerrtainly when the music is there it is there it is apparent. I am talking about the scenes as our crew is going about their business. Try not listening to the dialog and behind the words are just a sort of an ethereal sounds that to me have a foreboding sense that keeps the tension up as the movie progresses. I can't think of any scene where there was just quiet behind the crew. There is always some sort of of almost swirling sound. Of course it might just be my brain trying to fill in the gaps in our story.
