How easily he moved in the cave of the gods!

MemberOvomorphNov-11-2012 6:20 PMMateo, I would watch it but the studios would never buy it. What do you imagine happening on that 2 year/4 month trip?

MemberOvomorphNov-11-2012 7:50 PMI'm not sure, but I bet that a good screenwriter could do it, a plot, a story could be developed, don't ask me, but let your imagination fly, same happened with a Dracula film project, the journey by sea of the ship Demeter, this is a film project that has not yet carried out but this story was not written of the original Bram Stoker s novel, 'Logbook of the Demeter'.
I think David hides an ACE in the sleeve and I bet Weyland could have made a trip to some (unnamed) place. But I am not a screenplayer.
the movie that I m speaking above has not been released yet.

MemberOvomorphNov-12-2012 4:12 AMMateo, I've read an anotated version of Bram Stoker's Dracula called 'The Essential Dracula' several times. Love that book, especially Johanathan Harkers journal where he decides to sleep in the abandoned wing of the castle that was forbidden to him. Dracula's wives appear out of the shimmering moon refecting through the window and then materialize. They laugh together and then one of them says." You go first! It is your place to go first." She apparently was Dracula's first or favorite bride. Harker laid in anticipation of the sharp fine canines as they begin to press against the skin of his throat, while his heart races but he is frozen in an ecstatic state. That scene gave me the chills. It was so well written you can just imagine the whole visual scene. The thick layer of dust on the bed, the moonlight casting long shadows from window. One of my favorite horror stories. Camilla is also equally great by La Fanu. Beautiful poetic prose and the story almost a gothic fairy tale about vampires....

I absolutely see potential for a movie that spans the time you mention, and address the David android as possibly acting as a protector in the end. Not necessarily protect human or his own life, but simply working through the equation that he has began running based on analysis of Engineer technology and knowledge, and even once all those peices are worked through, there are the details surrounding what Engineer society has become since LV-223 was operational, if they still exist ?---on this plain ?
So yeah 2+ years, there could also be a look into Earths advancement during that period. Weyland would not have just put everything on hold pending his return.
And I have seen mentioned ties to military that Weyland corp. has.
Notice they felt it was necessary to have three guys at the helm in a tight situation or they just all wanted to be heros, and even though it is discussed this was bergoning tech. It was very clear that those guys had trained to work together with similar equipment. And if we take a quick glance at the Marines in Aliens that were obviously ill equipped, but equipped all the same; this points to many human encrouchments into Engineer and who knows who else's space, probably on many fronts within a short time.

It is strange, I was thinking about this posibility many times, as you very well pointig me, is unfathomable for a normal mind, thinking what can do alone a manic depressive elder and an abject slave like David, a robot lack of scruples and remorse, with the crew's lives being expendable, on a journey of two years along the space. There could be some clue there perhaps in the next plot of Prometheus.

MemberOvomorphDec-04-2012 12:59 AMI believe that an actor was chosen for the role of Peter Weyland that could play in flash backs of David's memories of being programmed, developing subroutines that predate his A.I. and compensating for unknown variables. We see him doing this still on the trip to the point that he can estimate the meaning of the symbols and results of applying pressure/movement.
I think some part of the seqeuls will explore the question much as it has been introduced- "What would you have your maker say to you, think of you?"
And it feels like it will be viewed from David's perspective. Also gives creadance to the nuance that this may be the universe as that of Blade Runner..

MemberOvomorphDec-05-2012 2:55 PMThe script does not have to be complicated to developing, will must to be a retrospect movie, 50%, no way!, there are many holes by cover yet.
